Walmart Retail Theft Case
On 10/16/20116 I responded to Walmart, in reference to a retail theft.

While conducting my investigation on theft case #2016-1547, I was notified by Walmart Loss Prevention Officer, Fabiano Estrela, that the male subject, who was with the suspect on 10/11/2016, was currently in the store. Estrela advised me that he positively identified the subject while he was at customer service. I immediately notified Sergeant Koch who arrived on scene within several minutes.
The White male subject, later identified as Thomas Blow, was met by both Sergeant Koch and Estrela as he exited the grocery side of the store. Sergeant Koch asked Blow if he would look at a photo of the suspect that with him at the store on the day the fraud took place. Blow cooperated and agreed to look at photos of the suspect from the store's video surveillance.

Blow was shown several still photos of the suspect, who used the victim's credit cards at the self-checkout register. Blow positively identified the suspect as his friend, Stephanie Trost. Blow confirmed that he was with Trost on the day of 10/11/2016 at both McDonald's and Walmart. Blow confirmed that he was waiting for Trost in

One photo was from the store's video surveillance on 10/13/2016, two day's after the fraud occurred. Estrela also provided a photo from Walmart in Michigan. The photo was from a retail theft that Trost committed. The photo is a clear shot of Trost and her tattoos.

I then transported my prisoner for the theft to central booking. While in central booking, I was provided with two still photos of Trost. The photos show a clear shot of her face, and one of the large tattoo which is located on the upper part of her back. The tattoo closely resembles the tattoo on the suspect's back during the credit card fraud.

This investigation is ongoing.

Personally speaking, I am a university student who is seeking a professional career and I do have piercings and tattoos. I have experienced workplace stigma. In a recent sample at a university has found that seventy percent of women and twenty percent of men had body piercings of some type and more that a quarter had tattoos.” (Bill) The information obtained from this article concludes many people with tattoos have goals and dreams just as big as everyone else. Thomas said, “When you’re sitting in a photo lineup, you just assume, one of these guys are the suspect…Bobby Pool wasn’t in the photo line-up.” Gary Wells, from Iowa State University, states, “When the real guy isn’t there, witnesses tend to pick the person who looks most like him.” With recognition memory rapid, Thomas shouldn’t have taken 5 minutes to identify the perpetrator, Thomas should have identified the perpetrator in seconds rather than minutes. To have conducted the photo lineup better, the suspects should have been shown to Jennifer Thomas, one by one for her compare the person to her memory thus, reducing the chance of identifying the wrong person. The individual I am going to be interviewing is a twenty-two year old African American male originally from Miami, Florida but moved up to Gainesville, Florida to attend school and major in Architecture. He is currently working as a security guard at North Florida Regional Medical Center. The description of the tattoo is a picture of two dices and flames surrounding the letters MAR which is a nickname the individuals’ mother gave him; and the tattoo is located on the individuals’ inner forearm on his left hand. The interviewee got the tattoo when he was eighteen years old back in November of 2009, where he explained the reason behind getting this tattoo. He started off by saying that he had just turned eighteen years old that October in 2009 and he wanted to signify that he had just graduated high school and he was old enough to do most things an eighteen year old can do. He said getting a tattoo is something he always wanted to get some tattoos, but he said he originally walked inside to get a sleeve, which is when your whole entire arm from wrist to shoulder is covered in tattoos but the cost came up to a thousand dollars so he settle for something way less. The participant got his tattoo in Miami, Florida at a tattoo parlor called Silver Back Tattoo shop which is well known in and around the surrounding Miami areas. The interviewee said the artist he chose to do his tattoo was a white male he believed look like to be between the ages of 23 and 26, so a young dude and the artist had tattoos everywhere. The interviewee went on to say that the artist had two sleeves on his arm, a few tattoos on his leg, and some tattoos on his face as well. He chose this person because that was the first person to greet him as he came in and also, he was the one that asked him what kind of tattoo he was looking to get. This artist also worked with him to figure out what tattoo would have best suited him and also what were in his price range; and…

Natalie Attired began working at Biddy’s in May of 2009. Biddy’s was owned by Biddy Baker. Mrs. Baker evaluated her employees performance every three months. There is no employee manual or written policy that the employees must follow. In June of 2010, Ms. Attired got a full-sleeved tattoo, which ]could be seen when she wore her short-sleeved uniform. Prior to getting the tattoo, Ms. Attired was warned by her co worker, who had been working at Biddy’s Baker for 10 years, to get the tattoo “where the sun don’t shine”. Mrs. Baker told Ms. Attired that if she did not remove her tattoo that she would be fired. Ms. Attired refused to remove the tattoo and Mrs. Baker then gave her a check and a termination notice. Mrs. Baker said that Ms. Attired’s tattoo caused a decline in sales; however, she was not able to show any proof of that. Ms. Attired then filed for unemployment in July of 2010 and was denied because she had been terminated for “misconduct”.…
