Victoria Secret Ad Analysis
A muscular man, with wash board abs and a strong jaw line modeling a pair of Calvin Klein underwear is an appealing advertisement, but so is a fit woman who is by no means flat-chested and is modeling a zebra print bra and panty set. The appeal all depends on the audience’s likes and dislikes. Because these two advertisements have different intended audiences, the Calvin Klein advertisement is set up differently in comparison to the Victoria Secret advertisement. The two advertisements are both comprised of a particular color scheme, text format, and body placement of the model, however the ads use of these characteristics are different. Both advertisements are marketing towards a sex appeal, but the Calvin Klein ad is meant to appeal to men while the Victoria Secret ad is intended to catch the eye of a female. …show more content…
The background is fairly simply, consisting primarily of a soft shade of blue, with just a dash of pink in the lower left hand corner. In contrast to these simple colors, the bra and panty set is an eye-catching zebra print. This color scheme imitates the stereotypical mindset of a woman. This mindset is as follows: find ways to draw attention to one self without looking as if you are trying too hard. By having a colorful background, rather than a plain and simple one, the zebra print is not seen as an overstatement. It is neither too much nor too little, but just the right amount of pop to draw attention without appearing as an attention
