According to the Occupational outlook Handbook, “Veterinarians care for the health of animals and work to improve public health. They diagnose, treat, and research the medical conditions on a particular pet, livestock, and other animals. Veterinarians are often called a Vet. Vets need to have patience and and need to like animals.” Vets examine animals to diagnose what health problem the animal has. They diagnose, treat, and research medical conditions and diseases of pets, livestock, and other animals. The skills are active listening, active learning, time management, monitoring, coordination, persuasion, and negotiation. Veterinarians examine animals to check and make sure they are healthy and to diagnose the health problems. During the exam, weight is obtained, temperature of the animal, and a fecal sample. The Vet will look into the history of the animal to see if the animal needs shots. After the shots, the animals have to be wormed for at least four days. If it is a regular check up, the animal will get an exam, shots, flea/tick medicine, and are seen in another year.
