The population estimate for the year 2013 was 19,651,127 while the percentage population change from April, 2010 to July 2013 was 1.4%. The population change showed that the birth rate from 2010 to 2013 was very small since it is only on a margin of 1.4%, thus measures to increase the population of the New York City should be put in place.
Percentage of persons under 5 years was at 6%, those under 18 years was 21.6% and 14.4% represented persons whose age was 65 years and above in 2013. The young generation represents the highest percentage of the persons therefore majority of the population in the city are energetic enough to carry out development projects for the success of the city.
The income for the households with medium income from 2009 to 2013 was $32,382 while those who were below poverty level were 15.3%. persons per household is very large compared to the USA data and also persons living below the poverty line is high which is almost the same as that of the USA percentage, which is discouraging.
The population that owned houses was 54.2% from 2009 to 2013, while the housing units in 2013 were about 8,126,026. The medium units owned by persons are higher than the medium value of owner occupied housing in USA from 2009 to 2013.
The level of education measured by the attainment of high school or higher from 2009 to 2013 whose age was 25 years and above were 85.2%, while those with bachelor’s degree or higher were 33.2%, the level of education in New York City is high enough thus many persons are educated.
Health needs

2. Increasing the number of public health centers accessible to all persons at a lower charge.
