Unit 2 Assignment 2 Face Analysis
Unit 2 Assignment 2
TRACE Analysis Today I read “TWITTER GOES TO COLLEGE” by Zach Miners. This is about how different professors at different colleges around the country are incorporating the social media site “Twitter” into their classrooms. Essentially “Twitter” uses 140 character maximum blurbs that can be viewed by anyone. This is easy for classrooms to use when they have too many people in the classroom. This allows the students to send in their opinion of the topic without being shut out by someone talking louder than them. It is also helpful for professors who want to keep up to date on topics that have something to do with the class. Though it is helpful, there is also criticism about how it decreases attention span and makes grammar

Daum takes the time to evaluate Twitter as if it were a person, stating that Twitter would be “an emotionally unstable person…that person we avoid at parties” (233). She goes further to add that Twitter will be the person we would view as mentally ill and will eventually feel sorry for. Her tone here towards Twitter is depicted as being fed up with users disclosed thoughts of one’s self. Daum examines these tweets as unstable and this is apparent because if you take away the whole purpose and backbone of Twitter, it is just mostly users microblogging their every move and thought. Looking at the bigger picture this is when “I don’t give a tweet what you’re doing” becomes notable. It is true that we all have that one friend that constantly rambles about something either random or irrelevant. My friend Bobby is that friend that mirrors Daum’s reflection of Twitter as a person. For instance, Bobby is always looking for attention and if no one is giving it to her she splats out something pointless just like most Twitter users do. I would rather not answer her phone calls because she can go on about herself and drift off upon pointless conversations becoming “the tragic oversharer” we would all like to…

David Silver in Twitter Meets the Breakfast Club, explains different ways how twitter and social media are great ways to keep in touch with classmates and students as a professor at a school. According to David Silver, he used to warn his students to “Be, Careful” in the mid 1990’s warning students what they put on the world wide web is public, until his mind set changed when he started a twitter assignment with a class on history of television cooking shows called “Green-Media” (498). David Silver’s had students join twitter for many good reasons, one being that “Twitter accounts are public, for their professor, their classmates, and the larger twitter community to access their work” (Silver 498). This means that the class can easily interact…

Have you ever thought about the life lessons within any Native American stories that you have heard? Have you ever wondered how despite the storylines, many have many similar characteristics? Have you ever wondered how even though they were all made by Native Americans, how every single one is completely different in some ways? The stories of “The Coyote,” “The Origin of the Buffalo and the Corn,” and “The First False Face” are very similar in some ways, but very different in others.…

By blocking access to all social media, it can also block helpful ways of communication between students and teachers. By putting things in a social network perspective, students can use YouTube to learn about things inside their classroom. Computers and social media can become allies in the hands of a creative teacher. For example, I had a teacher in high school that used Twitter as a tool in her class. She used to tweet our homework, the things we did in class, and we had class discussions. The principal watched our tweets, and if we put anything that went beyond the school rules, we would not be able to use Twitter. This is a great tool for students and teachers to communicate other than Email. As teenagers and young adults, we use social media to communicate with others much more than email, phone calls, or appointments with the teacher.…

A majority of college students engage in social networks such as Twitter and Facebook for educational benefits and entertainment. Twitter and Facebook usefulness depends on how the user engages in these social networks. Twitter is known for sharing information with other individuals who share the same interest, and a “growing number of professors are embracing it as away to introduce students to a different kind of communication” (Miners, 2009). Professors also realized that communicating through Twitter keeps students engaged in course content in and outside the university, and keeps them current with real world event alerts or issues that are relevant to the course. No one is ever too old or experienced to still learn in today’s society and professors even use Twitter to find answers to teaching…

The sincerity of a college’s student body is a huge priority. Social media is an enormous part of modern-day technology used everyday by millions, including the majority of high school students. Since many large social media sites have hundreds of millions of users, most of whom are young adults or teenagers, these sites are an excellent way for organizations to appeal to the youth of this generation. Colleges should be allowed to use social media and take advantage of its various academic benefits.…

Everyone now a days have so many ways of keeping in touch with their friends and family throughout every second of the day. Facebook and Twitter are now available to access through many smart phones and new portable electronics, so more and more people tweet or facebook someone while they are driving or even when they are at work instead of traditionally going on a computer in their home office. I personally agree with this article because, today’s society cannot go one day without going on their twitter or facebook that it has become more of an addiction than just a fun way to communicate with others. I will shamefully admit I am one of those people who go on facebook during class and cannot stop texting my friends throughout the day on my blackberry. A quote from this article that really stood out to me was something that our president Barack Obama said,“Information should be a source not of distraction, but of enlightenment.” I think a lot of people should relate to that quote because not all of the social media is bad, you can actually learn a lot from it if you use it the right way. There are a lot of software programs you can use to help build the education of child without worrying about your kid being on the computer for large amounts of time. And there is a thing called parental control where parents can block what they don’t want their children to see or do on the computer or even on a tv. There will be a day when Facebook and Twitter are no longer are as popular as they are, and everyone will just laugh about how much time they wasted revolving their world around them, missing out on the new things the world has to…
