Twinklele Toes Learning Center Observation
For the sake of confidentiality, I will be referring to the director I observed as MotherHen, and the facility as Twinkle Toes Learning Center. The center's hours of operation is Monday through Friday 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM. It is quality rated, has a maximum capacity of 25 children, accepts children ages of infant, toddler, preschool and school age, and also participate in the subsidized, after school and summer child care program.

Upon arrival, the first thing that was noticeable was how colorful and inviting the outside of the facility looked. In order to enter the building, the door bell must be rung and a member of staff must identify you before unlocking the door. Once inside of the building, signing in the log book and hand washing were the next steps before classroom entry. Mother Hen was behind the front desk filing documents and greeting each parent or guardian and child/ children as they signed in. She was attired in scrubs and crocks, her hair braided and pulled back in a ponytail. Mother Hen has dark brown skin and eyes, full cheeks, small narrow nose and thin arch shaped eyebrow.

She partnered up with the main teacher for that class and split the class up in to so that the children could have more one on one teaching for these

Once again, I was placed in Mrs.Metcalfe who teaches second grade at Bens Branch Elementary. Mrs.Metcalfe took attendance while the students waited patiently on the carpet. After she took attendance, she addressed that she had taken some privileges away from the students because the students did not picked up their mess after having centers and would not follow instructions that the teacher gave. She explained that centers might return for the upcoming school year if they behaved properly. After she addressed the issues of the students, she instructed everyone to go back to their desks and waited till they put their thumbs which meant that they were ready for the lesson of the day. Mrs.Metcalfe went up to the front of the class to use the projector and expected her students to follow what she was doing on their worksheets.…

This is accomplished by identifying developmentally and culturally appropriate activities and materials daily for each child. In order to ensure a smooth transition I have implemented procedures to include entering and departing the center, going from one activity to another and from one group to another. In the process of having a purposeful program a cohesive relationship is a must and will be attained by using all available resources addressing the individual needs of the child and working with parents. This can be accomplished by recognizing possible learning problems or exceptional skills that a child may have working with parents and specialist to develop plans specific to the needs of each child and if necessary make referrals. Follow up on the child’s progress is very important and is conducted on a predetermined…

On Thursday, September 17, I went to Hillcrest Elementary/Visual Performing and Arts School to observe Mrs. Mary Jackson’s music class. When I got there the students were sitting in their chair and learning about the music notes AGF. I saw two Special Education Teachers in the class and they told me that they were here to help the exceptional students. These notes are short notes and high pitch notes. After the lecture, Mrs. Jackson had the student watch and learn the song “Fiddle Eye Fee” in which it had animal puppets singing. Every time the chicken puppet came on, it would sing “Fiddle Eye Fee” and the teacher would sing along and play the xylophone. After the demonstration, the teacher had each row of students play the xylophone. As the…
