Trump's Entire Economic Narrative Analysis
Pretend we are still in the early 2000s. Could you have ever imagined the day where Donald Trump, a businessman and television personality, would be in the running for the 2016 Presidential Nomination? If you did not, you are probably thinking how did he get as far as to become the Republican Party nominee. Was it just for laughs at the beginning or are people voting for him because they actually do believe he can “make America great again”? Could there be one soul reason as to why people are voting for him? Many people think that it is because of the economy that Trump is getting votes. Author, Jennifer Rubin wrote an article on her blog, The Right Turn, for The Post, “Trump’s Entire Economic Narrative is a Hooey” where she elaborates her opinion on whether or not the economy collapsing is one the main reasons Trump is getting votes. Rubin …show more content…
She wanted to inform the readers as well as state her opinion on the matter. Her writing was very straightforward. You could not be confused as to where her argument was going. She explicitly addresses in the last paragraph of her article that “it is hard to square economic reality or self-interest with support for Trump.” The only time she used humor was when she stated that Trump most likely made “white Christians feel they can once again be in the cultural driver’s seat.” That statement weakened her credibility. It was a statement that generalized white Christians and put them all in one tight group. The majority of her article was unbiased whereas that certain sentence reflexed how she thought Trump supporters were like even if one could argue for or against her generalization. Overall, it was a very solid article with clear logic reasoning to support her stance that the statement of economic downfall being one of the main reasons that citizens are voting for Trump is inaccurate. If she didn’t write her feelings about Trump supporters at the end then this would have been a great

I believe that Ted Cruz did very well in the debate tonight. He had good arguments and strategies for all questions asked, and debated very well with the other presidential candidates. He is now my favorite candidate. I specifically remember agreeing with him over over Rubio on how to deal with ISIS. He suggested a devastating carpet-bombing of the entire state, where Rubio suggested that we aid Muslims in a civil war against ISIS. I think that Rubio’s approach is a horrible idea because it would just make us more meddlesome and our issue more complicated. I also noticed how multiple republican candidates were subtly trying to put Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in the same boat, by grouping them together in giving bad examples of policies…

On June 16th at his very own Trump Tower in New York City, Donald Trump announced that he would be running for president. It was only thirty seconds into his speech when Trump committed his first fallacy. In an attempt to insult the intelligence of his fellow GOP candidates, he compared their incompetence toward air conditioners to their supposed inability to beat ISIS. “They didn’t know the air-conditioner didn’t work,” “How are they going to beat ISIS?” This is a bad example fallacy due to his use of an example that fails to prove the conclusion and has little connection to it. Despite the complete lack of relation between Trump’s example and his conclusion, he was still able to provoke the audience into feelings of contempt toward the other…

Pathos one of the three modes of persuasion in rhetoric which is used to persuade an audience by appealing to a crowds emotions. Emotional appeal can be met in a series of ways such as through symbolism, humor, storytelling and constant references such as to undocumented Mexicans as Presidential Candidate Donald Trump has done over and over. Now this man is smart he is appealing to every emotion we have anger, frustration, pride you name it. Trump references constantly to the undocumented immigrants for the stack of America’s problems, like violence and economy troubles. Trump uses his ethos to discredit all undocumented workers by stating false accusations like categorizing illegal immigrants as violent, rapists, harm for the economy or job…

Bruni’s casual tone walked a very thin line between being entertaining and intellectually stimulating and seeming like a run-of-the-mill blog post. His joke, “That’s right, “democratic socialism” is a known aphrodisiac: the oyster of politics” (Feminism, Hell and Hilary Clinton, Bruni), about how Gloria Steinem said that the young women backing Bernie Sanders are just looking to “score dates with young bucks in the Sanders Brigade” (Feminism, Hell and Hilary Clinton, Bruni) was funny enough that I was still interested in reading but not turned off by his lack of professionalism. These jokes could have very easily gone extremely wrong for Bruni. They could have very easily came off as contrived and ruined the natural flow of his argument and accidently contradict his tone throughout the rest of the piece. Bruni states very clearly at the end that Clinton’s gender does matter and that it would tarnish all of the great accomplishments she’s done for women if you completely try to take her gender out of the equation. This could be seen as a slight nod to the opposition, in that he thinks to an extent Clinton’s gender plays a role in her campaign, but that it’s not the only thing about her campaign. At the end of his Op-ed Bruni makes the strong statement that if he trusted the hypothetical gay candidate and trusted…

She finds an article from the journal Pediatrics that she says, “really, well, pissed me off”. Its states that, “mothers of children with autism earn 56 percent less than mothers of ‘typical’ children and 35% less than mothers of children with other disabilities.” Bauer further along the article talks about a woman that she knows that has a son with cerebral palsy, autism, and is bipolar. The woman is a security broker and is very successful with it. Although, one person does not represent a whole population, she wants to only express her disagreement with the statistic, and show that she knows women going through the same problem as her that are successful.…

Facebook isn’t just a place to see pictures of friends and family’s latest vacation, or to see what your sister-in-law cooked for dinner that night. It’s a place where news, messages, ideas, and funny cat videos can spread at the click of a button. Given that, on average, over 628 million people log on to facebook each day, it is a great website for advertisement. With these statistics, anyone trying to relay some type of message would be “stupid” to not use Facebook as a resource. With this in mind, the Facebook page of GOP front runner Donald Trump takes advantage of the use of Facebook to express his personal values, gain media exposure, and to acquire voter support for his presidential campaign through a use of image and text post strategies…

She titles the book “Women of Color”, but focuses on the struggles of black women, Hispanic women, and poor women. Poor women could be white. I believe hers is more of story about the struggle of lower-class women and reproductive rights than just women of color, so perchance she could have titled the book in a way that referenced more about economic status than race. I know that it was mostly women of color that were targeted for forced sterilization, but the focus was on their race and economic status, not just race alone. I also believe that the author allowed her biases to slip through, especially when it came to making assumptions and statements in her conclusion. This, to me, affected how valid some of her smaller arguments…

Throughout the years that the United States has been a nation the economy has fluctuated. During the 1980s specifically, the eight-year span from 1981 to 1989, Ronald Reagan was elected into office and became the 40th president of the United States. “When Ronald Reagan took over the leadership of the United States in 1981, he inherited an economy that was in terrible shape, the worst American economy, in fact, since the Great Depression of the 1930s” (Shmoop Editorial Team 1). This was a significant election because it acted as a turning point for the nation. Reagan was the first republican president elected into office in almost 50 years. The presidents before him were democratic and had different ideas about how an economy should function.…

There are widespread speculations about America’s economic situation. Some people talk about it just to talk about it. But then there are the people who really know what they are talking about. Many things can be done to improve the conditions that the economy is facing right now in America. The genesis of all problems occurring in the American economy is Washington. America can get back on track by cutting government spending, lowering taxes, and by getting the middle class back on track.…

In fact, he has entered bankruptcy four times on different occasions so how will this man be able to manage the country's economy? He thinks he is correct and has no concerns if people disagree with him. Finally, Donald Trump is very racist. “ Laziness is a trait in blacks” was what Trump said and as you can see, this is clearly not true as people excluding blacks are also lazy. In short, Donald Trump is not fit for being president as he clearly cannot manage the country's economy since he couldn't manage his budget 4 times and never had a job in the government so he doesn't know how it works as you cannot simply get something done in a blink of an eye.…

The news report, “Poll: Obama-Romney race tied; Obama supporters appear more energized”, is clear and accurate. It goes into sufficient depth and breadth, because it talks not only about the presidential race, but America’s number one issue – the economy. It is clear that all of the facts have been reported because a national poll was conducted and a CNN/ORC International survey. A CNN poll was executed from May 29 – 31, with 1,009 adults nationwide, were questioned on economic and unemployment issues. CNN’s poll concluded that the economy is the number one issue, and the nation’s unemployment level is rising. However, the CNN/ORC International survey stated that one in five of the people that were question say that neither candidate can fix the economy. Also, the survey declared that one in five says the economy will recover regardless of who wins the presidential campaign. This report did not go into any alternative perspective and worldviews because it is based on factual numbers rather than others opinions. Is President Barrack Obama or Mitt Romney the better candidate for economic issue, is a questionable assumption that was implicated in the report. The report mainly focuses on what Americans will vote for, based on several questions pertaining the economy, and experience level. It is important for a critical thinker to make one’s own distinctions because an individual has to think for themselves rather than believing everything they see or hear.…
