Transport Management Systems A Transportation management system is software that normally focuses on transport logistics. TMS systems facilitate the interactions between an Order Management System and the Warehouse or Distribution Centre.
According to Margaret, Common TMS modules include: • Route Planning and Optimization • Load Optimization • Execution • Freight Audit and Payment • Yard management • Advanced shipping • Order visibility • Carrier management Basically, “a TMS product serves as the logistics hub a collaborative network of shippers, carriers and customers” (Margaret, 2013) Manhattan Associates is a well-known company that deals with the production and supply of transportation management systems. The company has been producing quality software that is used in various supply chain networks. The company ensures that it uses the latest technology to manage transport across all modes. Manhattan Associates’ Transport Management Systems (TMS) helps in the integration of planning, transportation, execution and freight payment. Customers are the first beneficiaries of the business process automation realized by the transport management systems.

The software “Transportation Planning & Execution from Manhattan Associates is a sophisticated transportation management system (TMS) that can manage all the transportation management activities occurring throughout your supply chain network” (Manhattan Associates, 2013). The transportation logistics software from Manhattan Associates gives the client real-time information and tools that can help the client “plan, optimize and execute both inbound and outbound shipments -- no matter how complex your transportation operations, distribution network and supply chain” (Manhattan Associates, 2013). Transportation Planning & Execution allows the user to efficiently use his/her time. For instance, the logistics
