Some people say that yes, sexism is still alive in America today. From the media, to the workplace, sexism is everywhere in America. Most people would say that sexism is men discriminating against women but there is also a lot of sexism against men in our society. America as a whole can be seen as a sexist society. For example, statistics show that there are differences in pay between genders in the workplace. “ In 2015, female full-time workers made only 79 cents for every dollar earned by men, a gender wage gap of 21 percent. Women, on average, earn less than men in virtually every single occupation for which there is sufficient earnings data for both men and women to calculate an earnings ratio.     They say the "77 cents for every dollar a man makes" is simply because women work less time and overall have lower paying jobs. Which yes this can be true, but as Table 1 and 2 in "Women Earn Less Than Men in All of the Most Common Occupations for Men", they compare the salary of men and women in the same field per each full-time week of work. The chart still shows that women are making less than men, no matter what field. Another myth they have is the excuse that women are discouraged from joining higher-paying job fields. This is a myth in some cases, but society tells girls "at least you're pretty" and "that’s a boy job", so from a young age they feel restricted to what they can live up to.     Sexism against women- Sexism still pervades in our society. A clear example of this is the way Hillary Clinton was treated in the elections. Hillary faced many gender-based abuse by the media and many individuals. “Multiple studies on women in national security have shown concerns about the progression of women into senior leadership positions (Erbe, 2008).” Some feel women are inferior to men, this is clearly a form of sexism.     First, the pay that women receive is still unequal to that of their male counterparts.
