The Right To Effective Treatment Summary

Many clinical procedures have been implemented, evaluated and changed over time. These processes have the aptitude to demonstrate new behavior and ease a variation of behavioral conditions. Unfortunately though many individuals are receiving treatment many are not getting the best possible handling. It is the job of the behavior analyst to implement the most effective treatment suited for each individual. These rights are explained in the article “The Right to effective Behavioral Treatment”. The authors, Houten, Axerlrod, Bailey, Favell, Foxx, Iwata & Lovaas, explain the 6 statement of client’s rights. The first statement says the “An individual has a right to a therapeutic environment”, meaning every client should be in a safe and logical area where they can receive the most effective services. The third client right “An individual has a right to treatment by a competent behavior analyst” talks about the implanter. This analyst should be one that is competent with rigorous training and skills needed to provide effective treatment. The fourth client right discussed says that “an individual has the right to program that teach functional skills” which when summarized says that each individual should be acquiring or being put in position to increase or improve their functional skills. The fifth client’s right talked about in the article stated “ An individual has a right to Behavioral assessment and ongoing evaluation”, which explains that each individual should be going through a process that identifies the need, implements a plan to fix the need and then evaluating the plan to determine if changes are necessary to help reach the goal. Finally, the last client right stated that “An individual has a right to the most effective treatment procedures available” which when abridged, says that Analyst should be using treatment that have been researched and the process demonstrated to be effective in the treatment
