Through the use of characterization, symbols and diction, Macdonald shows that healthy sacrifices benefit everyone. Similarly in Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Sacrifice is shown throughout the play for the benefit of self or others that they love or want. This is also shown by Shakespeare by using the above elements, which proves that the sacrifices that are made for the benefit of everyone will lead to the happy…

In The Vile Village, the author uses conflict to teach that you’ll have to sacrifice yourself for the ones you value. For example, that author shows sacrifice when he writes, “Before we make a decision about the rest of our lives, let’s get Duncan and Isadora out of Olaf’s clutches.” This supports the theme because Violet, Klaus, and Sunny are putting their lives aside to focus on rescuing Duncan and Isadora from the ominous criminal, Count Olaf. The Baudelaires have been through virulent past that includes demise. Additionally, sacrificing yourself can save someone you love. The author states, “When the Baudelaires climbed down nine rungs, the rope unbraided completely and dropped the children onto the flat landscape, unhappy but unharmed.”…

It illustrates the sacrifice oneself makes to have his or her desires and wishes fulfilled. There are different people from different culture and ethnic groups who have some sacrifices at some point in their lives for different reasons but the sacrifices made by these god-like brothers are somewhat out of the modern world thinking. One of the sacrifices that stood out from rest was when Ravana cuts one of his ten heads after he had already finished other sacrifices. People who aren’t interested in mythology might misread this sacrifice as someone who cut or amputate himself in order to gain power and knowledge. Ravana cutting one of his head might be interpreted as a human being inflicting pain and going against transgression. A human being…

The bottom line is that the protagonist sacrifices herself/himself in order to save others. The first example is how Katniss got money for Prim’s goat named lady. The second example is hoe Katniss sacrificed herself to the bag that held something they needed desperately to save Peeta. The last example is how Katniss volunteered as tribute for Prim.…

James Fenimore Cooper was born on September 15, 1789 and by the time of his death; he was considered the “national novelist” of America. In his novel, The Last of the Mohicans, we have a classic story set in the 1700 's. During this time, the French and Indian War is raging, complicated by an additional dispute between two Indian tribes, the Mohicans and the Hurons. Throughout the book we see characters with hearts that are strong and brave, but in spite of the characters, we see the inhumanity of the cruelty of the war. In The Last of the Mohicans, the theme is a conflict between civilization and savagery, and Cooper portrays a clash between races/cultures through the interracial friendship of Hawkeye and Chingachgook, through the barbarity between the Mohicans and the Hurons, and through the interracial love between Cora and Uncas.…

What this means is that despite what their culture or personal preferences are they will still usually what they feel is best for themselves. There are several if not hundreds of examples of this occurring in the modern world and it is all over the news. One of the current ones that is quite controversial is Hillary Clinton with her emails. She had the nation's security and secrets in her knowledge in her hands and yet she exposed them to several people over a private email server. She then deleted all the emails and denied ever doing this because it was in her best interest to keep herself safe but in her action she has put the whole country into danger's way. This is a prime example about how people will act in way to protect themselves even if it mean throwing everything else out or under the bus.…
