The Importance Of Being Successful At Bethel University
I feel that I bring hard work, dedication, integrity, thoroughness, adaptability, time management, and multi-tasking to the program. I know that these certain skills will be instrumental to my success during my academic journey. There is not one skill that is more important than the other because all of them are needed to not only succeed at Bethel University, but in life. The skills that I need to develop are writing grammatically correct papers, establishing routine study habits, and creating positive communication with facilitators and peers. Writing grammatically correct papers will be the biggest challenge that I will face. The reason that I feel this way is because it is a skill that I have not utilized in a long time. As

In English I wrote a letter to my parents were I was not good at writing and speaking. Also, I notice that when I read my paragraphs it wouldn't make sense I was a terrible writer my paragraphs wouldn't focus in one thing. I think I have gotten better at writing and speaking because when I read the gratitude letter to my teacher, friends to correct me and correct the mistake that I made in my rough draft. I have improved by reading it to other persons. Also so when I used to read it to my parents I would stutter and get nervous.so that's how I improved in my speaking, writing. Also, the part I need to improve was in my listening because I wouldn't listen when people would correct me. I wouldn't listen to them when they were speaking or giving lessons how to get better in speaking, writing. so that I would improve. I now listen to people that give me lessons on how to write, speak better because they hear me and read my paragraphs. So now I improve in a lot of things because I get lesson from other people. If I wouldn't listen to people that give me advice about my paragraphs I don't know where I'll be right now. So that how I have grown in the different sections of skills for academic…

The goals I have set for myself are: improvement in sentence variety, to improve my vocabulary, be able to recognize punctuation errors more and finally the revising of my papers. To improve in my sentence variety I believe that I will have to read more books to see many different types of vocabulary, and once I do that, I plan to apply it to my sentences. Once I do this I firmly believe that my sentences will become one hundred percent better and so will my vocabulary because I will not use the same words over and over again. Vocabulary and sentence variety goes hand-in-hand, and if I obtain one of those goals; I believe that it will help me obtain the other goal. Next, I believe that if I am able to recognize run ons and fragments in my papers, they will flow a lot better and make more sense with less mistakes. As of right now I believe fragments and run ons are my biggest problem in terms of writing; once I am able to overcome this obstacle of writing, my writing will elevate to the next level, in my opinion. Finally, if I am able to revise my papers better the first time, it will make my life so much easier. This will make my life so much easier because if I can correct something the first time I do it, it will save me time in the future, so that I do not have to go back and fix it once I see my grade on the paper. Despite all these…

The four skills that I felt were the most important to me are using evidence and data in decision making, recognizing opportunity and taking initiative, monitoring progress and adjusting the approach as conditions change, and marshaling resources and taking action. I narrowed my skills down to relationship building, collaboration, recognizing opportunities and taking initiative, and using evidence and data in decision-making. I gave myself a three on using evidence and data in decision-making. This is a skill that wasn’t developed on my own. My school has recently become a TAP school (Teacher and Student Advancement Program), this has made me look at data deeper and focus my lessons around that data. As I think back on my teaching style before TAP, I taught for the curriculum and now I teach for the student’s success. This has made me grow as a teacher and has made my students grow as learners. I also gave myself a three on monitoring progress and adjusting the approach as conditions change. This also grew, as our school became a TAP school. I think that these two skills go hand in hand. Through our TAP program we have learned that by using your students data and monitoring their growth you should monitor your lessons and change as needed.…

My results from the Peak Performance Self-Assessment Test show I have several opportunities for growth (Bethel University, 2013). One of the lowest scoring skills was money management. Money management is something I have struggled with for the last 10 years. However, I made a new year’s resolution that I would learn how to budget my money. I have not perfected a budgeting system but I will continue to work on this issue. Another low scoring skill was confidence. In the past, I have failed college English twice. Consequently, failing those classes have made me less confident in my writing ability. To conquer this fear I plan to refresh my basic writing skills and dedicate more time to school and research. I also believe that the critical criticism…

When I was 12 years old, I started my second language training in English at a cram school. I was the oldest one in the class which was very embarrassing. At the beginning, it seemed easy. As I progressed to a higher level things became harder and more confusing. My English teacher at junior high school was awesome and was the one who made me start to love the language. Because of her communication skills, excellent teaching ability and passion it made me desperately want to get more involved in learning English. It became my favorite subject. For me, grammar, communicating with people and writing essays are my challenges in learning English. With the most challenging part about developing my English skills was learning the grammar.…
