The gap between the rich and the poor is becoming wider, the rich more richer, the poor even more poorer. What problems can the situation cause and give solutions?
In this day and age, the gap between the affluent and the needy has increasingly widened. Such situation can be found not only between the developed and the developing countries, but also among people in the same country. In this essay, I intend to analyse the sources of this phenomenon and what can be done to address the problem and reverse the trend.
In my view, one of the underlying causes of this issue is that vicious cycle emerges from which the poor find it difficult to come out. In order to make both ends meet, parents have to work for supplementary income and thus leave their children alone and uncared-for. Their future become blurred as they don’t get enough quality education. This deprivation of the children is very high in ultra poor families.
Furthermore, the more wealthy people are, the more state-of-the-art technology they are able to access. Modern facilities along with enormous capital liberate the opportunity of setting up their own business. The wealthy eventually end with economic properity. Meanwhile, the poor lack of good situation to do business and then are forced to be employed with low salary.
In order to stem the tide of widening the gap between the rich and the poor, I believe we must first address its root cause. For goverment, adjusting on taxation including heavily taxing on the affluent and reducing the burden of tax on the needy may be effective. It is also a good idea to support the tuition fee and finance for the poor so that they can get better education and situation. Moreover, self-employment should be encouraged by promoting small-scale industry. On the global level, International organization such as WTO and World Bank should support the developing countries in terms of technical and financial fields to mitigate this phenomenon and enable them to improve
