The Four Obstacles Of A Hockey Player
The hockey player has to rotate his trunk, hips, and shoulders to make the stick accelerate forward and downward until the blade comes in contact with the ice about 4 inches behind the puck, again creating torque. The hockey player must accelerate his stick to a maximum stick during this phase before contacting the puck, using angular velocity effectively. The Four inches is believed to be the best distance because it reduces the amount the stick can be loaded without breaking the shaft.

What makes a slap shot go so fast. A good slap shot is the result of weight transfer. The weight transfers from the legs to the core to the shoulder down to the arms and then to the stick in the hands. The player has to hit the ice just before the puck.
