The Diary of Anne Frank RTL: Mood “It seems life is at a standstill” (Diary of Anne Frank, pg 749). This seems to capture the people in annex’s situation perfectly. The slow decent into madness clawing at each other and arguing while waiting for some news to arrive. They all feel trapped in the walls of the annex unable to leave. Though happiness shines upon them at times, it never lasts. They can only cling to what memories they have, and wait for the future to arrive. When the Franks and Van Daans enter the annex they still have hope that they can get through this especially Anne “You could not do this you could not do that … but somehow we children managed to have fun”. The time during the Holocaust brought the Frank family much difficulties. They had to be fearful about everything. They were always scared of being caught by the Gestapo. They had to be careful about what they were doing and how loud they were talking. They were always scared of what would happen if someone knew where they were living. While they were living in the Annex they couldn’t do much as I had mentioned. They didn’t have normal dinners or normal clothes like other normal families had. In the secret annex there was a tight schedule. The Annex was located in an empty section of the builing that Mr. Frank worked in.…

Anne Frank is someone who influenced history long after she was gone, because of her courage, bravery, and willpower that got here and her family through the tough times up until they were seized. Though Anne died at age fifteen in one of the camps, we still see her today as such an accepting human being throughout her life. In one of her very last entries Anne stated, “In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.” This entry proves her beliefs beyond measure that all humans are good people and mean for the best in their own lives. This statement alone expresses everything people need to know about Anne and who she was as a person this shows a maturity level way beyond her years as a young girl of only thirteen…

She was always afraid of being found in the secret annex. Once again, they were joined by more people. In November 1942, the Franks and Van Pels were joined by Fritz Pfeffer. Now, there were eight people in the small secret annex. All eight people had to live in fear and never go outside. They had to remain quiet during the day and also all had a schedule that they followed every day. It started with everybody getting up at 6:45am, so they could do what they had to before workers got to work. Then, when the workers came, they had to be perfectly silent until the workers lunch break. During this time, Otto Frank made Anne Frank, Margot Frank, and Peter Van Pels study. They would study languages, algebra, geometry, geography, and history. Anne Frank liked everything, except the math topics. Around 12:45pm in the secret annex, the workers downstairs left for lunch and the Franks, Van Pels, and Fritz Pfeffer walked around, talked, and got their own lunch. The eight resumed silence around 1:45pm, when the afternoon shift began downstairs. Later, around 5:30p, Miep Gies would come and confirm that everybody has left downstairs. The evenings in the secret apartment were more relaxing than the days because they do not have to worry about people hearing…

Anne, Margot, and their family went into hiding the next day. (“Frank, Anne”-Britannica Elementary Encyclopedia). They were soon joined by Jewish dentist, Fritz Pfeffer, one of Otto’s Jewish co-workers, Hermann van Pels, his wife, and their son, Peter, who was close in age with Anne. They hid in a secret annex (a room adjoined to or added into a main building) that Anne’s father had prepared for them. The opening of the annex was hidden only by a hinged bookcase. Anne was only twelve at the time. The families tried to continue with life as normal as they possibly could. The Diary of Anne Frank shows many stereotypes, such as Jews, adults, parents, and teenagers. Stereotypes are a standardized mental picture or belief held in common by members of a group. The Diary of Anne Frank identifies that the stereotype of a teenafer is moody, argumentative, and self-absorbed. The three teenagers, Anne, Margot, and Peter commonly show these traits in the play, The Diary of Anne Frank.…

“However, when My family and I moved into the Secret Annex, they were quite astonished and complained at how little space there was, along with the fact that they would also have other people in there with them including life long friends, coworkers, and neighbors that needed a safe place to stay during Hitler’s democracy.” The Frank family and others lived there in hardship for approximately 2 years with nearly not enough food to go around, and so much complaining about wanting to go outside the Annex.…

The mood developed in the excerpt is one of a longing to go back to how it was. What is lost is the love that Hester Prynne and Dimmesdale share, which is not lost due to them not loving each other but that they can not be together, due to Puritan society. To develop the mood Hawthorne used the fallen tree, that Hester and Dimmesdale sat near as a metaphor for how their love has fallen but still exists, which is made even stronger when the word “fallen” is also used to describe Hester. Hawthorne also uses the repetition of “another” to demonstrate how immensely the couple want to be together, which makes the loss of their relationship even more tragic feeling. Another example of something lost is the liveliness that Dimmesdale once embodied,…

Personal Reflection on Anne Frank’s House I chose to write a personal reflection on the Anne Frank’s House tourist attraction in Amsterdam because I have two daughters. As a parent, I want the best for them and most importantly, their safety. I would do the exact thing what Anne’s father had done for them. Otto Frank had to move to the Netherlands when the anti-semitism in Germany was growing. Though it took seven years for their family to be reunited in the Netherlands, he successfully got them out of Germany. My late father did the same for our family. When I was 13 years old, I followed my parents to migrate to Ecuador. We were not escaping anti-semitism but my father knew that we were not safe in our country due to the worsening of the economy and the rise of unrest in Cambodia. Like Anne Frank, being in a new country I started missing the place where I grew up and the friends I had left behind. I recall writing many journals when I got homesick. This was the only way I can re-live the life I had once before. Now that I have a family of my own,…
