Secret Annex Thesis
Have you ever played hide-and-seek for over two years? These people were in hiding because of their religion, which was Jewish. The Nazis were the group of people led by the Adolf Hitler, who was leader of the Nazis and was taking the Jews to the dreaded concentration and extermination camps. These camps were brutal for the people. The Franks, Van Daans, and Mr.Dussel spent over two years hiding in the Secret Annex. How did these people pass such a horrible time in history? How smooth, or in their case, how difficult, was it to communicate with the world outside of the Secret Annex? Where was the Secret Annex located in which these people spent the remainders of their life?

In the Netherlands, specifically in the city of Amsterdam, these people hid in a Secret Annex for their life. In total, there were eight people in the Annex and an additional two people helping them out. These people were Margot and her sister Anne Frank, Edith and her husband Otto Frank, Putti Van Daan and his wife Auguste Van Daan and their son Peter Van Daan and Mr.Dussel. These eight people were in hiding from the Nazi’s from July 1942-August

They had spent two years of their life in the Secret Annex for all to come to end because they were found just weeks before the end of World War Two. Mr.Frank was the only one of the eight hiding to survive the camps. He later returned to the Annex and found Anne’s famous diary. Anne, Margot, and Mrs.Van Daan died in Bergen-Belsen. Furthermore, Mrs.Frank, Mr.Van Daan died in the dreaded extermination camp of Auschwitz. Additionally, Peter Van Daan deceased at Mauthausen Concentration Camp, Austria. Finally, Mr.Dussel died of Enterocolitis in Neuengamme, Germany. For those two years communication with outsiders was very limited.
