The Banking Concept Analysis
Have you ever thought about that time when you were empty? I mean knowledge wise. It can be referred back to the infant stage or even that time in history class when you had no idea what imperialism was or what it is about. Well according to Freire this is where “ The Banking Concept” takes place. As he mentions on page 477, the banking concept is basically saying that students are empty containters that will be filled with education by their teachers. Although the banking could be a little puzzling here is a educational experience I had that relates to the banking conept. Last year I was in this honors english class. On page 222 Freir states “Students as they are increasingly posed with problems relating to themselves in the world and with the world, will feel increasingly challenged and obliged to responf to that challenge. In my understandings what he is saying is that us students face our problems or challenges with a challenge. For example a story that could relate to students and challenges. Another personal educational experience that relates to students and challenges would be the fall of last year. I am a student athlete so you already have an idea of how that works. I played soccer so we had practice everyday and games at least twice a week. But the problem was I had a three paged citations essay due that Friday for English. The biggest problem was after my English teacher didn’t want any mistakes or we would lose points for …show more content…
But then on page 217 he talks about the information depostited into students by their teachers helps them develpe critical consciousness. Critical consciousness that help them develope a view of reality deposited in them. He states on page 216 “The Capability of banking education is to minimize or annual the student creative power…” , or even earlier in the page he says “ the teachers teachs and the students are taught.” That relates to the banking concept because it continues to address that students are “containers” that the teachers will
