The Advantages of Digital Photography
If you are looking to buy a new camera, consider the following advantages of digital photography over basic film photography. Digital photography is gaining in popularity for a ton of reasons simply because it is so versatile for taking all types of pictures. However, some of you are still hesitant to make the switch from film to digital. Some reasons to make the switch from film to digital are that the cost is less expensive than film, the instant gratification, and the built in editing features. Taking pictures with a digital camera is less expensive than developing film, which can save you a lot of money, and doesn’t use harmful chemicals that harm the environment. All photos are stored on a memory card or device in the camera and you are able to directly download them to your computer. There is no longer a need to buy rolls of film and store them in your refrigerator. You can now use that space for food. Another eliminated cost is the buying of chemical to develop your photos or picking up the photos from a lab. Also gone is the headache of making multiple original copies of a photo or buying multiple copies of your favorite picture, because with digital you are able to send and print multiple copies in non-traditional sizes of that great picture without any extra cost to you. Digital photographs can also be modified to slide shows, displayed on web pages, can easily be stored on your home computer or be copied to a CD. Not only is digital photography less expensive, it has instant gratification. When it comes to instant gratification, digital photography can’t be beat. Most, if not all, digital cameras allow you to be able to view your photos the second after you take your finger off the shutter release button. It also can function as a view finder for when you are taking your photos. You can make adjustments for lighting and in exposure right on the spot when needed. This makes it easier to capture those spontaneous moments at weddings or when you have kids without having to worry about whether the pictures are going to be over or underexposed. You also have the option to go through and instantly delete the photos that didn't turn out right or the pictures that you don’t like and take another. You no longer have to pay for the developing of a whole roll of film only to throw away half the photos because you cut off a head or it was blurred. Digital photography allows you to take numerous shots of the same scene with slightly different settings, and then choose only the successful pictures to be printed. It is also reassuring to be able to view a histogram, make sure you have the right exposure and double check your composition. Digital photography is not only there for the professionals but also for the amateur picture-taker like yourself. Another advantage to digital photography is the ease with which photos can be edited and altered. The built in editing features that a digital camera provides are a must have for those who are new to picture taking or those who don’t know a lot about photography. These tools allow you to remove the horrible red eye from photos or even lighten or darken the exposure because of poor flash or lighting. You can also crop an image, center an image, enhance and change colors, adjust the contrast of the picture and even sharpen the details of any photo. If part of a photograph is good, you just crop it and save it back to the camera memory card. Many digital cameras have a facility where you can capture short bursts of video complete with audio. You can even use these tools with many different types of photo editing software on your computer and all of these modifications can be made within minutes and you could have a perfect image worth printing. If you think this will cost you a lot now, you will change your mind when you consider the technology that comes with it, the amount of money you will save in the long run developing all those negatives and the ability to tell your friends, family and customers "I can get you those pictures today”. Digital cameras are becoming more affordable all of the time and the technology to make fabulous photos are well within the budget of most consumers. Though a lot of professional and amateur photographers continue to prefer film, it will only be a matter of time before everyone converts to digital. However, you can use a classic camera and then convert the picture negatives into digital photographic format. Though, the best way to take advantage of digital photography is to use a digital camera

The camera was invented to capture a picture of anything you wanted to save as a memory. In today's world, people use the camera during many special occasions to remember that specific day. Someone once said; a picture paints a thousand words. To me that’s a hundred percent true. I started photography when I was at a young age, around twelve. I carried my camera everywhere I went to capture every memory, every scenery that was around me in one simple photo. I love the fact that with film, you’re stuck with the photo on paper, whereas with digital you can delete it and lose it forever. Here are some reasons why I brought in my film camera, not only does it describe my passion for photography, but the lenses I look through can capture my life in a click.…

When I was 14, my mother took my family to Yellowstone National Park and Wildlife Reserve in Wyoming for a family road trip before I entered High School. There, I was enthralled by some of most beautiful landscapes in America. I wanted to capture them all on my tiny iPhone camera! For a while, I was satisfied with the pictures I took on my phone, however, that was before I learned that there was so much more to photography than just pointing and shooting. There were angles, lighting, aperture, exposure, and other visual rules to be accounted for. My mother has an old DSLR, so I'd been exposed to more advanced digital cameras. It's funny, she never really took the camera off of automatic mode, so she essentially had an expensive point and shoot.…
