Tell Me Narrative
I’m about to tell you an amazing story. . . . When I was a little girl, about six years old, I was playing on a play structure. I fell off the bars onto the ground and my tooth fell out! It was the happiest—then again, saddest—time ever. I was laughing because I was waiting and waiting for it to come out, but I was crying because it hurt.
When I came home, I told my parents. They congratulated me and put my tooth in a little box. At lunch time, I was just eating mushy foods; I hated it! Finally, it was time to go to sleep. I was in bed and I remembered, I put my tooth under my pillow, but I forgot to write a letter. I wrote one right away: “Dear Tooth Fairy, I’m so excited I lost my tooth, but it hurts when I eat. So can you please make it

Well, as fate would have it, Nick ran into me. The momentum he had on impact, caused me to fall forward, right into a brick wall. I remember the pain running through my arms and face, but nothing hurt as badly as my lip. My first grade teacher came out, and she helped me to the nurse. The nurse called my mother, and told her that I had to go to the hospital. Before my mother got to the school, although she was driving pretty fast, I got to look in the mirror. My upper lip was split open, and did not look pretty. It was bleeding excessively when my mother got to the school. She quickly got me into the car, and we drove off.…

I was rushed to Williamson County Medical Center and was taken to the emergency room. In the emergency room they shoved my front tooth back into my mouth and gave me painkillers. From there they transferred me to Vanderbilt for oral surgery. The oral sugery was the worst pain experience I have ever experienced. The surgeon had to put my mouth back together with stitches and brackets which acted like casts. After the surgery I thought I could never play baseball again because my teeth were never gonna be sturdy again. I was devastated as the recovery took several months and required 9 root canals. I also could not eat normal foods either which made me lose fifteen pounds. I still have scar tissues on my lips and teeth that are decaying. Everytime I look in the mirror I see and remember my accidental…

I strongly believe that if one is to be successful in society, setting goals and prioritizing them is very crucial. Having your goals set and prioritizing them does not only give you a clear focus on things you have to do, but it helps you to organize your plans so that you can set time limit and boundaries in achieving those goals. There are so many goals that I want to achieve my life. Since goals can only be achieved if they are realistic, timing and attainable, I have categorized my goals into long and short term goals.…

“I’ve been drinking since I was twelve, but I don’t think I was exactly twelve. Maybe older, maybe younger. I’m a little tipsy now but that’s not what you want to hear. I was once told I drank like an eel, I’m not sure what that meant, but again that’s not what you want to hear. You want me to sit here and tell you the exact traumatic moment when I began drinking; It was the first time I ever had that nightmare. The next day I asked my dad why drank, he said ‘I drink to forget’. He never told me what he was trying to forget. I thought ‘I drinking makes you forget, maybe I’ll forget the dream.’ So I drank a couple of beers then went to sleep. The dream was worse than before, but that was the cycle every night for the past thirty-five years.”…

“Graduation, the hush-hush magic time of frills and gifts and congratulations and diplomas.” You weren’t lying when you said that Maya Angelou. May 19th, 2013 I had dreamt of that day for almost four years. I know I can’t be the only person who feel this way. I remember it as if it was just yesterday. So many different emotions going through my mind all at once. Happiness, Sadness, I felt relieved because it was almost over but at the same time I felt anxious and overly excited to just leave and go far away. 389 seniors were going to walk across the stage and receive their diplomas. After all, our class had the biggest percentage of graduates who were actually…

The minute I got home, I rushed into my parent's bedroom where my mother was watching TV. I told her about my eventful night and that I would quite enjoy going to the hospital to get a confirmation of my suspicions. She drove me to the ER where we would promptly sit for twenty minutes before they could assign us to a room. Once we were assigned to a room, where we would wait for the doctor for another ten minutes. The doctor then came into the room wearing a white coat, glasses that were far too small for his head, and a clipboard in his hand. He talked to us swiftly about my nose, saying that I definitely needed to get an X-ray, and for that we would have to wait for about an hour and a half. Finally, they came to take me for the X-ray, on the way there I caught a glimpse of myself in a small mirror: I looked like some sort of ogre with my colossal nose, covering almost my entire face. I got back from the X- ray and shortly after that, the doctor came back into my room, smiled at me, and with a laugh, he said, “Well, it's broken alright!” My mom and I both thought he was joking until he brought us over to his unpretentious office to show us the actual X- ray. We could visibly see a long crack from the top to the very bottom of my nose. Once we got back to our room, he put a big, bulky, cast like item, called a splint on my nose, to which I would have a long and painful recovery in. From then on out I always left my free hand up in the air to guard my nose from that untrustworthy…

Yet another Thanksgiving, and I was stuck in my uncle’s basement watching the Redskins face off the Dallas Cowboys. Michael Jordan, Serena Williams, and various other famous athletes all grinned at me from their respective Wheaties boxes, seemingly mocking my pain. My uncle collected them and, for some reason, had decided the bright orange boxes would be a great decorative addition to the basement wall behind the television. I remember once, when I was younger, I was searching for a movie to watch and I accidentally brushed against a limited edition Michael Jordan box. The box began to teeter, and I immediately knew that I was doomed. All the boxes began to fall like dominos to the floor. My uncle, needless to say, was furious. Thus, it was seemingly fitting that the offended boxes, now realigned on the wall, would have the privilege to witness my torture by football.…

It was the year 1645 and we’ve been on the plantation for 8 ½ months now. Our family has been here for as long as I can remember, working the cotton fields. We were brought here from a small country off the coast of Africa, the country of Uganda. I will never forget that fateful day. As my mother and I were walking through the forest to gather wood and the proper materials for us to eat, we were bombarded by the white men, they came in different directions threating to shoot at us if we didn’t cooperate, at this time we knew that the rumors we heard all around the village were true. As if having guns pointed to our heads wasn’t enough pain we were beaten, tied, and thrown into the bottom of a ship without food and water for what seemed like days. As I saw the look on mothers face I realized that the days ahead for the rest of our lives were going to be hell for now on……..…

Few days later, I got my wisdom tooth pulled for the first time. My operation went well; the dentist and his staff did smooth work.
