Technologies affect on Students
Technology’s Effect on Students

Technology has impacted students more than anything, work wise and socially. Technology impacts students in some ways for the better and in other ways for the worse, both effecting their school work and social life. Technology can improve the work of a student, but also worsen it, depending on how the student is using the technology. Students may find that technology improves their social life in many ways, for others it might have a negative effect and worsen their social life.

Students can use technology to work more efficiently. When students use computers it makes work get done faster in more than one way. Typing improves the quality of everyone's work. It’s more neat, and looks better. Having auto-correct makes it faster to edit and revise your work. Over the years Technology has been improving and I find that it takes me less and less time to complete my homework due to the technology improvements. Students have the opportunity to do a whole assignment on one computer, including the research, outline, rough copy, and final copy. If a student didn't use technology for games and concentrated on their work most students should have higher marks. It’s the students who realize that they need to get their work done before they play games that will have success and receive a higher mark. It’s not just for school work students will use technology. These days practically every job relies on technology to run their business. In 1995, 0.4% of the population used the internet. By June 2012, 34% of people use the internet. If students know how to work efficiently on computers, it will reflect on future jobs they might have. If the student used their technology properly it can have a huge impact of the quality and efficiency of the work.

The advanced technology isn't better for everyone. Not every student respects the use of technology. It may work against some students because they can't focus on their work when technology can

According to the documentary, technology has helped schools have become an even greater environment for students to learn. Computers and the internet are able to help schools in ways we have never before seen. Students are able to access documents online from teachers through email and forums. And with a click of a button, students are able to read books online and find information about whatever topic they are studying in class. In this case, technology is making it easier for students to learn about new things rather than having to go to the library flipping through endless pages of books. As a result, computers have become ideal for the educational environment and according to Dretzin and Ruskoff when they analyzed a school in New York that had no computers, students did poorly in test scores. But once the school decided to use computers to keep students engaged in their class work, the school greatly increased their test scores and kept the students in school long enough to graduate.…

Thus, the connection that an overuse of technology can have a negative effect on learning, however, if used properly technology can allow students' excel.…

Both authors discuss the positive and negative points that new age generation technology has had on today's society. One author leans toward the good in technology and the other author leans toward the bad in technology. While both essays express many strong points about the use of computers, I am leaning towards Clifford Stoll and agree with him. He clearly gives his thoughts of how technology…

(Source C) Submitting a paper online makes it easier for the teacher to see and input grades, thus leading to inclusion of more formative assignments. “It’s as if the Administration were announcing that every child must have the fanciest scuba gear on the market – but these kids don’t know how to swim, and fitting them out with scuba gear isn’t just useless, it’s irresponsible; they’ll drown.” (Source E) Taking advantage of technology is great and will gain ground in future innovations. But, without a proper base for students to build upon, the technology is useless.
