Over the last couple of years, technology has evolved tremendously than its has in the last hundred years. Technology has started to be part of our life and that has created an effect on us since we know we rely on it a daily basis. Although technology has positive uses and a positive influence on people like teens/young adults, technology also has a negative influence/effect on young adults.
Technology has positive influences on young adults like helping them academically, but it has also negative influences and one of them would be cheating. Nowadays cheating has become so easy that anybody could do it without getting caught if they are careful. In the article “No, kids CAN’T study while they’re texting: Research finds teenagers struggle with multitasking” by Jenny Awford states, “But new research… by Stanford University, found that 85% of young people struggle to perform simple tasks when distracted by music, phones, or email.” While doing simple tasks, it seems that young adults are distracted by technology and this why because their attention is suddenly captured by a text or notification of Facebook,Snapchat, Instagram etc. In the article, “Teen Texting Soars: Will Social Skills Suffer” by Jennifer Ludden notes, “58% of students with mobile phones say they’ve sent a text message during class.” The article clearly states that students during class are easily distracted by their phones, this of course could affect them in their grades because they missed what was being thought,showing that technology is a negative influence on
In the article, “Teen Texting Soars: Will Social Skills Suffer” by Jennifer Ludden she states what Nini Halket a history at Harvard-Westlake high school had to say about her students; “As her students are increasingly immersed in texting, Halkett also finds them increasingly shy and awkward in person.” This teacher has noticed that as her students are texting more than communicating in person they become less sociable. In other words, these students are finding it harder to socialize with other because they have gotten used to communicating through text.
