Even though the technology advancements might be useful there are still some cons to these advancements. The early people believe a ray of light was a message from God or it could heal people. Later on an advancement to light was made by scientists. This advancement was the laser. Lasers were used a lot about six decades from the advancement. The lasers are an important part of scientific research, industry, and medicine. In medicine lasers …show more content…

These boats allowed more jobs and more factories which helped the economy. Factories were more useful as the demand for the resources used for the steamboats grew. The problems that it causes were never made important. The steam engines caused air pollutant that was harmful to people. The smog was a mixture of smoke and fog along with other dangerous substances. The factories of London contributed to air pollution which later killed thousands. This air pollutant also caused coal miners to contract black lung disease. This as when the organs essential for breathing became stiff with disease and was useless. Along with the air being contaminated the water was also becoming harmful. Waste was being dumped into nearby waterways and stream which eventually was being consumed by humans. This was the reason for breeding diseases such as cholera and typhoid. While the 19th and early 20th centuries were known as the Great Industrial Age we can not forget the harmful things it caused. These improvements have helped but they also have the potential to hinder society. The Flying Machine, Locks, Computers and Why we Play God, and, Zap! It’s the Future are all written examples of how technology can be positive and how it can also be negative. The Flying machine written by Ray Bradbury, Clocks, computers and Why we Play God written by Jay Bookman and, Zap! It’s the Future written by Chris Wood, from the book ‘Passages’, 2002, are the technology pro’s and con’s that I will be commenting on.
