Our children are our future, and they need to be prepared for the future or they will not be successful in the working world. Teaching makes a difference in them, because it gives them tools to help them be successful in the future. I would like to tell you why I would like to become a special education teacher and what has led me to this decision and why I want to become a teacher. I have chosen to become a teacher because I myself am a product of someone whom I consider to be the best teacher in the world. As a child in Virginia, I was inspired by a wonderful coach and teacher named Mr. Scott Nunnaly. Mr. Nunnaly taught me that any dream was possible. You know you have a good resume, and obviously your application letters have been good because you’ve been invited for eight interviews. However, after each interview, you have failed to receive a job offer. Baffled, you prepare harder by quizzing yourself with standard questions, and even having a friend do a mock interview with you. But are the answers you give to questions the reason you aren’t being offered the job? Have you considered your physical appearance enough? Many people do not realize just how important physical appearance is in a job interview. As someone who has been successful through the years in many different interviews, I can tell you that proper attire and impeccable hygiene are two keys to a successful job interview.…

I am interested in the position of ACE Tutor at Loyola University Chicago. As an ACE scholar, I have been taking advantage of this resource for the past few years. I would credit my academic success to all the tutors I have previously had from high school to college. Being a first generation student made my experience with upper level courses more difficult than others. I often did not know how to tackle certain subjects because I was the first in my family to take them. When I began taking advantage of tutoring services, in tutors I found mentors. I realized early that I enjoy tutoring and mentoring students, specifically those who have limited sources like I did. For the past three years, I have been tutoring at a non-profit organization,…

By definition, a teacher is someone who provides educational instruction and communicates lifelong lessons. To me, teachers are much more than that. Teachers can touch base on topics you normally wouldn’t find in a text book. The purpose of education is not to fill the minds of children with facts, but to teach them how to think for themselves. Teachers can inspire children to be proud of who they are and help them overcome their adversities. I have chosen to go into this field because I want to help get children ready for an important part of their lives. Watching my son grow and having the privilege of being able to see how his young mind is starting to put pieces together has made me want to be a part of that for all young…

Many people that choose to become teachers because someone in their family was a teacher. Some teachers started out in another profession and never thought about teaching at all. After watching the National Teachers of the Year and listen to their stories it has enlighten me on why I choose to be a Teacher. Why do I want to be a teacher? I want to be a teacher because I wanted to make a difference in a child’s life. I volunteered in many elementary schools with low-income families, and I would have students say Mr. P. I enjoyed learning today or you made this lesson fun. That is what made me say ok this is my calling. Teaching to me is a calling not a hobby. You have to be special to be called to teach. Many teachers are in the classroom because of a check and it is evident because of the way they treat their students. If you do not have the passion to teach why are you there? Children remember what we as teachers say to them and it will scar a child for life. Like Jenna Hallman from South Carolina, my home state a third grade teacher whose wish is to know that she has made a difference in a child’s life before she takes her last breath on this earth. I feel the same way. When I get ready to leave this earthly world I want my students to remember me as the teacher that made an impact on their life whether it be through a lesson or even through music.…
