Company Profile for Tarmac Building Products

Tarmac Building Products Limited (TBP) is a subsidiary of Anglo American Finance (UK) Limited and has been since June 2010. TBP is a private company with its head office situated at Millfields Road, Ettingshall, Wolverhampton, West Midlands, WV4 6JP. However, TBP has 51 sites situated all over the UK and employes 917 people directly plus 100+ temp staff in 2012 supplying the heavy building products industry.

TBP is one of the UK's largest suppliers of heavy building products. They aim to be the number one supplier of heavy building products, providing solutions for the built environment. TBP have been involved in a wide variety of construction projects including Wembley Stadium, Emirates Stadium and St Pancras Station.

TBP are literally a part of the fabric that makes up our everyday life, providing the products used to build houses, workplaces, schools, hospitals and much more. They also have a team dedicated to producing innovative and market changing products aimed at enhancing safety, increasing durability and tackling climate change.

The TBP Vision is “TBP will offer exceptional customer service and product quality delivered safely through an empowered and performance driven team.”
Safety seems to be a key point to this mission statement with the slogan “Safety Starts with Me” now on all internal and external communication. Ian Litchfield has been quoted saying “A safe business is good business”.

TBP supply to three key demographics, “house builders”, “contractors” & “merchants, distributors and retail”. Specializing in nine product areas Mortar & Screed, Blocks, Bagged Aggregate, Grouts, Plasters & Renders, Adhesives, Topsport & Growing Media, Special Sands & Pre-packed cementations products.

    Tempur Pedic is the world’s largest bedding provider that manufactures and distributes various luxury products made of viscoelastic memory foam. The company was founded in 1992 by Fagerdala World Foams in Denmark. In the 1980s, Fagerdala acquired the formula to create a stable, durable and commercially viable product from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). In the early 1970s, NASA had developed this pressure-absorbing material to help cushion and support astronauts during lift-off. Fagerdala spent years perfecting NASA’s process; once completed, their consumer version of the foam was given the name Tempur. The first product released by the company was the Tempur-Pedic Swedish Mattress in 1991. By 1992, company owner Dag Landvik began a partnership with Kentucky businessman Robert Trussell, Jr. to bring the brand to the United States. Today, the company is headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky. The most recent major development in the company was the acquisition of mattress competitor company Sealy in early 2013. The company sells in eighty countries many of the most highly recognized brands in the industry: Tempur, Tempur-Pedic, Sealy, Sealy Posturpedic, OptimumTM, and Stearns & Foster. According to Tempur Pedic’s first quarter results posted in March 2013, the company’s net sales are estimated at 2.5 billion dollars (Tempur Pedic Online, 2013). NTPM has began to focus on its sales and marketing effort by branding its tissue products under the brand name “PREMIER” which a name is wide known in Malaysia. This strategy is undergoing on the year of 1995. During the recession period on 1997, NTPM able to survive due the demand for NTPM’s products was well over its supply. On 2000 foreseeing the direction of its future expansion, NTPM has acquired a printing business to complement its paper operations by supplying tissue boxes for packaging of its finished goods.
