Susan T. Mullins: A Case Study
Susan T. Mullins a school psychologist employed by Wise County Public Schools was interviewed on October 19, 2015 via the telephone. This was the most convenient method for Mrs. Mullins. She shared this time of year was most “hectic” for testing. Mrs. Mullins has been practicing School Psychology for the past eighteen years. She is a graduate of Radford University’s class of 1997. She is not a member of NCSP or NASP because it is not required. She has worked her whole career in Wise County.

    I have always been fascinated with human behavior. Somehow I instinctively knew that our behaviors are affected by many environmental factors. Thus, as a child, I found myself always attempting to psychoanalyze the behaviors of my friends, family, and television characters. In 2005, I enrolled in LeMoyne Owen College. Since LeMoyne does not offer a major in psychology, I elected sociology as my major. Although I loved studying the theories associated with Sociology; I wanted to pursue my studies in Psychology. RIP is an internationally recognized parent implemented program in which parents learn to work directly with their own children. Experienced RIP parents provide training and support to newly enrolled families. The program is available to families in which there are concerns regarding a young child's behavior, and is coordinated by a professional resource staff person. This position provided me with an extraordinary view of maladies of childhood behaviors.
