Introduction
Blue Sky Limited (BSP) is a premier ready-meal manufacturer serving clients worldwide. Established in 1960 to primarily serve the hotel industry, BSP has expanded its services to restaurants, college campuses, hospitals and well known super markets throughout the world. In addition to the consistent and high quality meals it manufacturers, BSP is well known throughout the industry for its innovative approach to supply chain management and is a member of the supply chain council , award winning customer service and high emphasis on health and hygiene. As a testament to its leading position in the industry, BSP has won several accolades and awards including the Food for Life Catering Mark award in the UK, Hotel and Catering Review Gold Medal award (the flagship award program in the Irish hospitality industry) and “Caterer of the Year” award by Catering magazine. In addition, BSP facilities meet and exceed some of the most stringent health and safety codes in Europe and the United States. With more than 50 years’ of experience under its belt, BSP is entering the “in-flight” meals market with the goal of serving as a strategic partner to some of the world’s premier airlines and delivering high quality restaurant grade meal to airline passengers. Currently, BSP has 600 employees working for its in-flight catering with 150 trucks available for loading. The company also has its own farm of vegetables and animal poultry plant not to rely basically on suppliers. With a wide competition in the airline Industry, BSP enters the new market with new innovative techniques , better quality for the cost, diversified options, re-strategize business practices and one of a kind flight catering value chain to stay competitive . To achieve this new innovative way of doing business BSP proposes lean ,just- in- time quality manufacturing systems with the best IT and inventory management as a tool to stay active in the increasing complexities in flight catering Business . To do so , BSP Proposes new ways of doing business by introducing new tools to make the catering system more efficient to airlines and attractive to customers (Passengers) . These systems include technological advancements which enables BSP to introduce meals freshly cooked instead of foods that are reheated by using new state of the art oven technology in most long haul flights. Recognizing food as the best marketing tool in the airline industry , BSP is investing in a large facility close to the Dubai airport.
