Summary: Who Are Considered FGCS
Who are Considered FGCS? It is critical to recognize that there aren’t one universally acceptation definition of FGS. Research experts as well as individual colleges and universities define FGS differently. For example, scholars have defined FGCS as:
• College students whose parents do not possess a college degree (Lightweis, 2014)
• College students whose parents do not have a 4-year degree (Stephen et al, 2012)
• Neither parent nor guardian earned a baccalaureate degree (Clauss-Ehlers and Wibrowski, 2007)
