Summary Of The Book Slide
The main character of this story is Rennie, a young boy that lives in Toronto Ontario. The story takes place in the twenty first century, early winter. The book Slide takes place at Disaster Peak Resort in Nevada USA. However the story does start at Ronnie’s home in Toronto. But most of the book is at the ski resort. The description of the ski resort would be paradise to me. It is located in the rocky mountain, warm, lots of nature, secluded and with plenty of fluffy snow. The chalet was large and welcoming with the appearance of a cabin at a lake.

Rennie seems like your average high school student, but when he goes home he lives with the blame of his mother’s death. His mom died when he was only thirteen years old. Rennie asked his mom to …show more content…
Then Rennie meets his grandmother’s boyfriend named Rod. After, a resort staff named Annie, introduces herself to Rennie and helps him find the mountain named Disaster Peak. Reenies grandma then breaks her leg on one of the slopes and gets rushed to a hospital. Reenies grandma then asks rod to take Rennie to the hospital for her and on the way there, Rennie heard explosions that sets off artificial avalanches. Annie’s uncle, Raj shows up to take her back to India to see her “dying grandma”. Later that night Rennie sees Raj meet up with a person in the middle of nowhere alone. The next day Rennie notices Derek leaving and getting angry, so he cracks a window. Derek said “I’ll show her if it’s the last thing I do”. Annie then finds a note and she thinks it is written by Derek, it says to meet him on a mountain for a surprise, and so she did. Annie finally arrives to the mountain were the note said to, as she got there an artificial avalanche goes off. Rennie witnessed this and immediately started searching for her and he did find her. The tensest part of the book in my opinion is Annie getting caught in the avalanche. Just before this happened her boyfriend left a note but actually her uncle made the note in the boyfriend’s handwriting. This all led up to her uncle getting arrested in

    The beginning of the book takes place in a place called the Bottom, and the first person they talk about is Shadrack. He has returned from WWI a veteran, and when he finally gets out of the hospital after being injured, he starts National Suicide Day as a way to deal with death. Then we meet Helene Sabat, her grandmother Cecile, and her daughter Nel. Helene is very strict. Nel becomes friends with the main character Sula, which marks the start of a lifelong friendship. Helene, however, doesn 't approve of Sula 's mother, Hannah. Sula 's family is very different from Nel 's. Sula 's house is always crazy. Hannah has a habit of sleeping with married men, she thinks of sex as fun and not a big deal. Sula begins the same behavior shortly after. We get to know more about the friendship between Sula and Nel, and a lot happens to them over the years. Sula learns that her mom doesn 't really like her, she and Nel are involved in an accident that results in a boy named chicken little drowning. Sula 's mom Hannah dies in a fire; Nel gets married to a man named Jude; and Sula leaves town for ten years, returns, and has an affair with Jude. A few years later, Sula gets involved with a man named Ajax, but when he senses that she 's getting too possessive, he leaves her. Sula falls ill shortly after that and eventually dies.The book goes ahead about 25 years. Nel visits Sula 's grandmother Eva in the senior home. Eva accuses Nel of standing by and letting Chicken Little drown all those years ago. We find out that it 's true: Nel watched him drown and enjoyed it. As she 's leaving, she passes Shadrack on the street, who is also lost in sad thoughts. Suddenly, Nel calls out for Sula and finally forgives her for cheating with Jude.
