styro case
The focus of this assignment is the comparison among the three simulations (batch of 8, batch of 4, and single price flow). While watching the 3 Styro case movies provided, we needed to analyse and compare the differences among the three simulations. There are several elements to just in time manufacturing that are crucial to the successful implementation of this new manufacturing. These elements are; Group technology, Process control quality, JIT, Uniform factory load, Pull through production and Set up production. Any activity that adds costs to a product that does not add value is a waste. The simulations will be held with 3 types of colours, which are Red, Green and Black. The reason why this is a demonstration instead of a real life production process is because there is an accurate future forecast; Red 60%, Green 20% and Black 20%. Furthermore, this report will analyse the three simulations and make comparisons between these simulations.

Batch of 8
While watching the first simulation which started with an introduction and the process flow of the coming production, they divided the processes into three work stations. Furthermore, the customer will buy directly from a warehouse. There is a trucker and a maintenance worker available, the trucker will transport the material from one to the other work station, while the maintenance worker will step in when there occurs a malfunction of certain equipment used in the process.

Initially, the first production run of the red rectangular styro foam block went very well. There didn’t occur any malfunctions in this run. The supply in the red blocks were sufficient to cope with the demand of the consumer. The first stock out occurred with the green foam blocks. While there was a shortage of green, the second workstation continued to produce the red ones first. This eventually led to 2 stock outs in this process. When the second operator is going through a set-up, the first and third operators are continuing

Ans) Safelite was the largest nation-wide auto glass company in the United States with about 500 stores, more than 3000 employees and 3000 trucks. The company has started mobile services and gained 12% of market share. Although Safelite offered mobile service from virtually all of its stores by the early 1990s, the main focus of the company was to serve the customers at their place and the trend of the stores was decreasing so forth. The incentive was $1000 to open a new store as bonus. So every employee tried to open a new store rather working hard and improving the production. The employees of the Safelite were required to work for eight hours and according to the CEO John Barlow, they were only putting in windshields for two and a half hours. They were not…

    Tesla Case Stydy

Tesla Motors is one of the leading producers of electric cars and electric powertrains in the world. Founded in 2003 and based out of Palo Alto, California, Tesla is currently in 37 countries worldwide. Tesla currently produces 3 models, the Roadster, Model S, and the Model X. A primary issue Tesla faces is the steep prices of all three models. The least expensive model is the Tesla model S. It’s cheapest option begins at $57,400. Many experts believe that for Tesla to be successful, they will need to produce a model closer to the $30,000 range. Other critics focus on the issue of a possible takeover, or the company’s lack of liquidity options. Lastly there is the issue of global expansions. Tesla hopes to increase their number of stores worldwide by 50 throughout the next several years creating an annual cost of roughly 5-10 million dollars. Although Tesla faces ever increasing pressure to develop a more inexpensive model, I personally believe this is not the correct option. Tesla Motors offers top end, luxury vehicles that provide the distinct advantage of electric power over Tesla competitors in an industry that is moving more and more in that direction. Tesla competes against top end, automakers such as Maserati, Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Porsche. All of these competitors are internationally renowned, high end, high brand recognition companies. To be successful I suggest, Tesla focuses on their continued international expansions and marketing to created a world-renowned, top class product that incorporates their primary strength of electrically powered vehicles.…
