Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22 every year , on which events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network,[1] and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year
Earth Day raises an awareness to save the Earth. Especially in times of global warming, we should celebrate Earth Day to remind us to conserve natural resources for future use. Earth supports life, and we should be happy about it
Earth Day is very important to Earth because it teaches us to "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle!" If we don't take care of our Earth, then Earth wouldn't exist!
Earth day is important because it is a day to help the earth and keep it safe and clean.
Just like any other holiday we do things to celebrate them. Earth day is the day you show how much you appreciate mother Earth by "Going Green". that includes: Recycling, Reusing, Reducing the uses of some things [such as electricity] and more.
But, the question arises as to why we celebrate Earth Day? It’s because we seem to have forgotten what a beautiful gift we have been given in the form of planet Earth. We also seem to have forgotten that this is our home and we need to keep it in order to stay healthy and alive.
Over the centuries we have mercilessly utilized and depleted the Earth’s resources. Our sheer ignorance has begun to cause severe problems like depletion of the Ozone layer, death of rivers due to dumping of industrial waste, global warming etc. In our quest for industrialization heavy amount of deforestation took place. This has harmed the Earth’s environment. The ice at the Poles has started to melt due to the rise in Earth’s temperature. This is an ominous sign of what is to come. We have dug quite a huge pit for ourselves already, but we can still get out of it. So, days like the Earth Day remind us to be caring and loving to the Earth.
We must realize the danger and start

In “Earth Day” by Atticot and Manning they state, “The recycling rate has increased from less than 10% in 1980 to more than 34% in 2011. Now that has spiked, and some people feel that you don’t have to recycle anymore. However, that is wrong. Davis states, “On March 21, 1971, the UN Secretary-General signed a proclamation establishing Earth Day as an official international holiday.” That was signed in 1971, so it was still so bad that they had to make a holiday to remind people to take care of Earth.…

For example, today many people that are building or remodeling their houses choose to use eco-friendly building materials to not only save up energy but to create a better environment or use up any reusable materials that are needed or cannot be replaced. You might be thinking, what is eco-friendly material? An eco-friendly building material is something that increases the order of energy used and decreases the impact on human well-being and basically our environment. So, it helps decrease the usage of taking up all the energy and things we need that are environment might/might not have. But using things that can damage our environment can cause: pollution, sickness, and a life of possibly a person and an animal. So, that’s why it’s important to find ways to keep it safe enough for everyone. Recycling is another kind of big thing for most people because it not only protects us but it helps animals survive as well. To help make this happen things like: recycling, using better materials for the environment such as in stores you can use reusable bags that aren’t made of plastic. Another alarming discovery that people had was the fact that the air was becoming unhealthy, and what they were actually breathing in was factory fumes and smoke. Environmentalists brought the long term risks that this can have such as acid rain and the threat of global warming, not to mention what it can do to the people who are using the polluted water and breathing in the polluted air. Amongst this controversy about environmentalism there was a celebration that stemmed from these problems called Earth Day that started from the idea a Wisconsin senator had where people would come in to college campuses and learn about pollution and global warming and other threats to the earth and then were taught what they can do to help. This educational day gradually spread across the nation and an estimated 20 million participated in some way on Earth Day in the next years. Environmentalism became a real help to America and it was acknowledged by almost everyone especially politicians, it crossed its biggest line after Richard Nixon signed a National Environmental Protection Act that enforced laws to have pollution…

“In the 2000s images move around the globe with ease and an instantaneous speed of transmission that was unheard of before the 1980s.” Reading this made me realize that the new generations to come will truly deal with global issues and voice their opinions in many different ways in comparison to how things were done before technology got out of hand. As technological advances are rising faster than we can keep up with, it is incredible to think how this actually effects the art world and the culture associated with it. 1970 marked the year that we dedicated a whole day to our beloved Earth due to our space race with the Soviet Union. If NASA had never transmitted the picture of Earth to Earth when they did, would there not have been an Earth Day created? The picture alone of “the blue marble” had sparked the peace movement and was a new symbol that embodied…

There are many problems facing the world today; serious problems that could have grave consequences if not resolved within the next few years. However, there is one looming problem, which if not resolved, could make all other problems obsolete; the way that we take care of the environment, or rather the way we neglect it. The environment is a necessity for everyday life. Without the environment, we would die. How we chose to end global warming is interesting, because much of our daily uses affect the environment.…

Our precious Mother Earth is the one who suffers the most because of the bad practices we do in our daily lives. We do not even consider how badly it will affect her as long as we are happy with what we are doing. We throw our garbage to places that are not supposed to be thrown at like the different bodies of water and in this case, we pollute our water and there is little clean water for us to drink. We are using up our non-renewable resources in such a short time without even thinking that it takes a very long time for nature to reproduce it. We are also cutting young and old trees without even planting new trees for replacement and because of this, flash floods and landslides happen. We continue using appliances that emit chlorofluorocarbons, which damages the ozone layer that protects us from the harmful UV rays. These are only some of the proofs that we are very selfish. We are selfish in the sense that we think only of ourselves and don’t even care about Mother Earth where in fact she is the very reason why we live peacefully and happily. We have to do something in return to Mother Earth for all of her sufferings. After all, we owe everything to her. Now is the time to repay her. However, how can we do this? We have to be contented, aware, disciplined and responsible so that we can take care of her properly and lessen her sufferings. First, we have to be disciplined enough to do what is good and what is bad for our environment. Second, by being aware in the sense that we have to know if what we are doing have good or bad effects to her. Third, be contented on what she has given us and do not want anything more that will cause you harm. Finally, be responsible for all your actions. Remember that what you do to Mother Earth comes back to you. And one more thing, Love Mother Earth and she will love you back.…
