Statement Of Purpose In Aerospace Engineering
Statement of Purpose
“The thirst for knowledge increases with the acquisition of it” –Thomas Carlyle, is something I truly believe in, thus realized early that diligence is the only investment that never fails. That one quality which, intrinsically motivates me, is my Never-Say-Die spirit, besides finding out how does a machine operates? I’ve always been interested in design aspects and monitoring the incipient faults occurring within machines. This urge has strengthened my ability to look beyond the conventional functionalities of any machine.

Here I underwent rigorous training for National Physics Olympiad by proficient professors for almost a week. My enthusiasm always drove me towards the science quizzes like National Cyber and Science Olympiads.
Engineering, at this point of time, seemed as a natural extrapolation of my abilities and interests. The amazing thought of flying, which gave men, wings motivated me too to pursue a research career in Aerospace Engineering. My undergraduate education at the SRM University, Chennai gave me a proper understanding of the field and nurtured interest in various associated subjects specifically Heat Transfer and Computational Fluid Dynamics. I studied both the subjects under able guidance of Dr. Vasudevan. My inquisitiveness in his class and my prior knowledge in C++ led me to learn MATLAB on my own.
The beauty of the equations and the wide variety of interesting concepts such as Chaos, Instabilities, Discontinuities in the form of Shocks, Capillary Phenomena, etc., intrigue me because they are not intuitive physically, but have profound

For my project life, I chose Aerospace Engineering as my future career. I have already set my path in that direction by taking Coach Cutshaw’s Pre – Engineering class at South Greene High School. I also plan on taking one of the three engineering courses at the Greene Technology Center. I would then need to get at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering at a four year college or get a degree from a Technical School with an engineering program. In High School I will have to take Physics, Chemistry, Writing/English, and several Math courses such as algebra, calculus, and trigonometry.…

I am involved in numerous clubs and activities both inside and outside of school, but my favorite this year was being a part of the Spirit Spartans, a group of Senior students who plan, organize, and promote tailgates, student attendance at games, and themes at all sporting events. Some of my favorite memories over the past few years have been at Turpin games, and I hope to help my classmates and underclassmen make those memories as well.…

The most significant extracurricular activity that I participate in would most likely be track and field during the indoor and outdoor seasons. I maintain a paid job and also help out at the local library, yet my experience as an athlete for Exeter High School has instilled within me invaluable time management skills, work ethic, and determination. Lettering all previous years I have competed, and being elected the team’s most valuable player last year, I work extremely hard on and off the track to achieve my goals. Balancing training with school can be difficult at times, but in a way I seem to work better having more on my plate. Receiving the scholar athlete award every consecutive season since sophomore year goes to show my greatly improved…

Meeting the people whom I met and learning the things in which I learned are all great memories. But two things I’ll never forget as a teen were my two best hobbies and they were, playing basketball and running track. I really enjoyed playing basketball because I had the body statue for it and because it’s a very competitive sport. Now track on the other hand, was somewhat a lot more difficult for me. Even though I never was as fast as the other runners I really enjoyed traveling alongside the team and the joy of running fast and having the rush of the wind blow in my fast was an excellent feeling. My hobbies really helped me to cope with a…

This year, I have a lot on my shoulders. As the president of my school’s Mu Alpha Theta, I am responsible for generally running the club, but have additionally decided to host a small math competition for elementary schoolers. So far, I have delegated test writing, gained administrative approval, and received registration for 73 participants. This has been an incredibly complex and stressful event to personally plan, but it is the training wheels to planning the state convention next semester.…

The most important non-academic activity in my life has been ice-skating. I began taking lessons in elementary school, and I will never forget coming home after my first class and putting bags of frozen vegetables on my bruised knees. I spent many hours at the rink every week practicing, and eventually completed all of the levels of lessons just before entering high school. Through the years, skating taught me that I am capable of doing whatever I set my mind to, and showed me that mastering something does not come easy, but that it is the result of hard work and determination. I continue to enjoy ice-skating in my free time, and while I may have forgotten the spins and jumps I used to do, I still have not lost the invincible feeling of gliding…

I look forward to becoming actively involved in school activities which will allow me to form close connections with other students and the University. With a motivation to succeed in a demanding major, my free time is both limited and valuable. I would like to spend that time doing a select group of activities, including participating in internships, volunteer work, and possibly a club sport. Volunteering in programs at local hospitals will be very beneficial for gaining experience and learning to foster meaningful connections with others. Joining a tennis team would allow me to pursue a lifelong personal passion, and allow me to engage with other students who also enjoy the…

Technology is determined by need. Inventors often have a mysterious skill of resolving situations with their modernisms. But the thing that splits engineers from ordinary innovators is the ability to distinguish the importance of maintainable technological solutions for the future. Although many of our needs and difficulties remain the same, the answers keep changing with time. Furthermore to finding out how a machine operates, I’ve always been interested in design aspects and observing the incipient faults occurring within machines. This desire has strengthened my ability to recognize the scope for improvement and also inspired me to look outside the conventional functionalities of any machine.…

C.S. Lewis once said, “Experience: that most brutal of teacher. But you learn, my God do you learn.” I agree with Lewis because everyone can pick up a book, read a few pages and say that I have learned. But only few can state that I have learned from an experience. Luckily, I was given the opportunity to become one of those who have learned from experience by observing a technologist. While observing, I was able to gain knowledge that I never thought I would achieve. Through this paper, I will share all my observations and personal thoughts on the things I learned.…
