Failure to uphold these standards includes, but is not limited to, the following: plagiarizing written work or projects, cheating on exams or assignments, collusion on an exam or project, and misrepresentation of credentials or prerequisites when registering for a course. Cheating includes looking at or copying from another student's exam, orally communicating or receiving answers during an exam, having another person take an exam or complete a project or assignment, using unauthorized notes, texts, or other materials for an exam, and obtaining or distributing an unauthorized copy of an exam or any part of an exam. Plagiarism means passing off as his/her own the ideas or writings of another (that is, without giving proper credit by documenting sources). Plagiarism includes submitting a paper, report, or project that someone else has prepared, in whole or in part. Collusion is inappropriately collaborating on assignments designed to be completed independently. These definitions are not exhaustive. When there is clear evidence of cheating, plagiarism, collusion, or misrepresentation, disciplinary action may include but is not limited to requiring you to retake or resubmit an exam or assignment, assigning a grade of zero or "F" for an exam or assignment; or assigning a…

Football consists of a team of talented, skilled individuals that display strength, power and speed to play the game. Without these traits, a player will certainly be a failure to the game and the team. It is a very rough form of entertainment that we all love to watch with our families and friends. It is rather ironic that although we do not promote players to hurt each other; in the game of football, we seem to send the opposite message that it’s alright to get hurt, nonetheless, a sport where players understand that in order to stand out amongst other players, the harder they exert effort into the game also increases their risk of sustaining unpredictable injuries.…

Sports have been around since the olympics in 790 B.C., yet only recently has the affects of these sports on our body been addressed. Dr. Bennet Omalu brought attention to the NFLs injuries like no other in 2002, when he discovered that the former football star Mike Webster, the Pittsburgh Steelers championship center, had a degenerative brain disease due to constant head trauma(1). Since the discovery other sports, such as rodeo for example, have shown that the NFL isn’t the only sport dealing with the effects of concussions(2). I was drawn to this subject because I wanted to learn about a topic that I find interesting and could use in my day to day life.…

The female athlete triad is a health condition in which active women experience three inter-related disorders due to unhealthy body weight and eating habits. In the case of the triad, the word active refers to females who display moderate to high intensity levels of performance. The rate of performance must be high in order to counterbalance the decrease in calorie intake. Females who perform at a high intensity are at risk for the triad since they do not take in enough calories to fulfill the amount expended. The three disorders within the female athlete triad are osteoporosis, disordered eating, and menstrual dysfunction. Not all females experience all three of the conditions, however new data has indicated that even having one or two elements of the triad can greatly increase a female’s long term morbidity and mortality rate (6). Adolescent girls and women are the two categories who are mainly affected by the triad. The causation of this disorder is mainly due to the pressure placed on these females to maintain a slim body image in order to enhance their sports performance. The female athlete triad does not only affect elite athletes, it also affects active women and girls participating in physical activities. If females compete at elite levels and do not consume the adequate amounts of calories, vitamins, and/or water, then they will develop the female athlete triad.…

Overall, sport injuries, although common, have the potential to be dangerous. The many varying affects of sport injuries can cause a wide range of injuries, each with a unique severity. Sports injuries can be prevented through the use of warmups and cooling down after exercising or participating in a sport.
