The first reason that people came to the colonies was for religious freedom. Because in England, if you did not follow The Church of England’s beliefs you would get either get kicked out of England, or you would be killed. Groups like the Quakers came to Pennsylvania, the Puritans settled in Massachusetts, And the Pilgrims settled in Massachusetts. The second reason is for money (and/or economy).     The majority of people arriving in the new world were of English origin during the 1600s, of course not all of these people were leaving England for the same reason.
