CHAPTER I
1. Introduction
Gurung Community have their one special position in the caste structure of Nepal, the total population of Gurung is 543571 according to the census of 2001. Gurung mostly follows Buddhist tradition. The mid hills of Kaski, Gorkha, Lamjung and Dhading are th major settlement regions of Gurung today. They also live in the Sikoles and Ghandruk of Kaski District. These days they are scattered over hills and plains. Dhading is the major settlement region of Gurung today. They lived in harmony with their neighbours. They live in house made with dry grass and stones. We can find Gurung settlement in cities like Pokhara, Kathmandu and Butwal. 2.1. Background of the study

The main point of the study about Gurung people is to know how many of total population is covered by Gurung people, they have different culture, tradition, customs etc. They have different religious to know about their status, condition and situation in Nepal . Their problem which they are facing to know about their occupation and their physical education. 1.2 Statement of the problems

Gurung group is one of the ethnic group in Nepal, the main theme to study about the group is that the condition of the Gurung people in Nepal of each and every sector, Economic, Physical and Political condition of Nepal. About their festivals, about their occupation about their culture and religious. 1.3. Objectives of the study

1. To know about the condition of Gurung people in Nepal.
2. To know about their cultural tradition
3. To know about their festivals
4. To know about their political
5. To know about their occupation
6. To know about their marriage system

2. Research Methodology
The entire process by which we attempt to solve the problem is called research for any type of report or field visit research is searching the answer to problem or question research is necessary exercise the extent of the validity of the old coins on or the find out some new facts and generalization in connection with the exist ones thus it is a knowledge building process.
