Marseille must make a decision regarding the future of Skadurz Pro and its two retail stores. Joel’s mother (who is acting as a manager at one location) is retiring, a major competitor is opening a store near one Skadurz Pro location, and the building the second location is in is being sold by the owner. Joel must decide whether to manage both Skadurz locations himself, close one of the stores and manage just one location (and if this option is chosen, which location should be kept? The location nearest a competitor or the one that would require Joel buy the building it is in?), or to sell the entire business. Joel's objective is to choose the option that will yield the greatest long term profits and personal satisfaction, and to do it as quickly as possible because time is money.

I, the general manager of Hiram Miller Chicago branch, am considering we should have something done with our current warehouse on Jefferson Street. The basic problem is that the 60-year-old warehouse is not capable for our daily business from many aspects any more as we move into the 21st century. Due to many limitations, the shortcomings to run that warehouse are overwhelming the advantages it remains. Small size, inefficient layout, obsolete facilities, low-tech equipments and bad working environment are dragging our company down within such an intense competition nowadays.…

Twenty-five percent is a year or so older, but still in modest demand. Twenty-five percent is outdated and would be very difficult to sell. In addition, there are kayak and rafting accessories valued at $100,000, fifty percent of which are the latest and most desired technology. Finally, there is $100,000 of related equipment that retails well to customers looking at kayaks and rafts. This equipment normally is marked up 100% above the wholesale price.…

The hiring and formation of a larger management team would be a reasonable solution to the problem that Kudler Fine Foods is experiencing. According to the strategic plan, at present Kathy Kudler is attempting to handle all aspects of her business without a management team in place (Apollo, 2008). This is currently causing a small team of employees’ issues because Kathy Kudler has not empowered them to make necessary decisions if she is unavailable (Apollo, 2008).…

They are stationed in-between residential housing and social activities that could contribute to their long term growth and success. The company’s ownership isn’t under much noted people and so we aren’t really able to determine how effect they will be able to run the business. I also believe that they are leaning on the need of having a loan to start the company to much and may not be able to repay it in a timely manner. The plan is to make profit within the two year mark but that is also only how long their lease is on the building that they are planning on having their business in. Competition will also be tough for this venture because they will be competing against top name stores that are known throughout Texas. The products and services they will be offering can sell really easy and are a wide enough variety to sell but should be targeted at a much wider audience. The ventures projected sales and profits seem like this company has high hopes and will prosper in the selected area. However, this seems highly unlikely to me with the limited amount of time that they are giving themselves with a profit in two years and not having the lease lasting any longer than two years. Competitors are…
