However, androgens are also present in females in small amounts." For males, some side effects of using anabolic steroids would be acne, oily skin and hair, hair loss, liver, kidney and heart disease. Anabolic steroids mimic the effects of testosterone (e.g. androgenic) As the testosterone suppresses, many of men's testicles shrink, and a decrease in sperm production. They are usually prescribed to help men who don’t have enough natural testosterone and certain types of anemia.
