Should We Always Tell the Truth?
Should we always tell the truth?

Have you already told a lie to somebody? Everybody has already lied to someone. After that, most of the time people have felt guilty or bad if they expressed their own opinion. But sometimes, people don’t tell the truth just to avoid hurting others because they act like that for the good of others. However, always telling the truth is necessary for us in everyday life in order to feel good about ourselves, to be trusted by everybody and to be able to support our own opinions. Telling the truth is the most important thing to do. It’s better to tell the truth, admit mistakes and move on. Everybody should tell the truth all the time to feel more comfortable. Of course, sometimes they have to use the polite way to express their opinion. It makes life simpler; there is also great humility in admitting mistakes. People appreciate this quality and that gives value to us. For example, if you lie to your partner because you used to have a secret relationship with someone else; it’s better to tell the truth because you will feel guilty or bad all your life even if you think that you can lose your partner. People who tell the truth become more truthful. Our own image must be appreciated by everybody. We have to keep a good image of ourselves. That means to be honest in all situations. We trust people because they develop a reputation for telling the truth. An honest person will become trustworthy over time. It is the most important feeling that we can receive from outside. For example, if a person lied and we know what he said was a lie; we are not going to trust this person again. His image of himself is damaged. When you tell the truth, it’s easier to support your own idea or opinions because you don’t have to invent a history. People who lie invent a huge history. But if you ask some details, they are quickly lost in the explanation and they forget some details to make sense of their lie. We can think that not telling the truth is

In the article “Brad Blanton: Honestly Tell the Truth” he says that telling the truth can keep a relationship based on reality while also saying that lying keeps people locked their own mind. He states that. “‘ Many people think think they tell the truth, but they don’t because they withhold information. Have the courage to be honest and have a relationship with others based on reality’” (5). If people did not lie then they know that their relationships with friends are based off of facts and not manipulated information. However most relationships are not perfect and some relations might even end if everyone did not withdraw information to one another. The article also says that, “‘But it’s just as likely that you’ll end up losing people whom you don’t want around you anyway’” (15). But if people be honest to each other, they might lose people that they actually want in their lives. Being honest is good but if one is honest they are very likely to offend people and lose friendships in the end. In conclusion, Blanton says that telling the truth can help a relationship with a friend as well as saying that lying keeps people locked in their own minds however relationships can never be perfect and if people were honest they might lose their…

The dictionary defines a lie as, “a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.” However, while the intent of a lie is to deceive, that deceit is not always intended to cause detriment to others. Lies can be told for justifiable reasons such as to protect the feelings of others, but more often lies are told for the wrong reasons. For example, lies are mostly told to avoid the consequences of one’s actions such as with criminal activities and academic misconduct. When comparing acceptable and unacceptable reasons to lie, the unacceptable reasons greatly outnumber the acceptable.…

First off let me start of by saying that we lie. We all do. We exaggerate, we leave out things, we avoid confrontation, we try to be inconsideration of other people feelings, we conveniently forget some aspects of the truth and even keep secrets. Like most people, I find myself in situations of small falsehoods and still think of my self of an honest person. Sure I lie, but it’s not really bothering anyone or anything.…

The truth is a far-fetched form of communication in some places, and therefore cannot be regularly spoken. Some areas of the world enforce strict and unusual laws in which free-speech is restricted. In situations like this the truth may not suffice as the correct answer due to a possibility of prosecution or punishment. Many people placed in these environments are regularly forced to lie as a means to protect themselves from any danger or backlash they may receive if they were to speak their minds.…

Why should one tell the truth if it’s one’s advantage to lie? This question caught my attention as I scanned through a thick, old and tattered encyclopedia. While I was sitting on a green comfy chair parallel to a wooden table, I pondered upon the said question coming from a renowned philosopher named Ludwig Wittgenstein who formulated the theory of truth. It was said that he spent his entire life answering the question which made me wonder how long it would take me to provide the answer to this query. This speculation then reminded me of one instance in my life where in I needed to lie for a certain purpose. At first, I was bothered by my conscience but later on I realized that I did the right thing. To be untruthful is inescapable in this world. Not a soul is capable of getting away with it. If truth be told, life as it is could not exist without lying. To lie is to deviate from the truth deliberately but it does not always follow that lying is bad.…

At a young age our parents taught us to always tell the truth and never to lie. Although, telling the truth is the morally correct thing to do, I believe there are scenarios when lying is acceptable. One should not make a habit of lying, but know when the right time and the right place is to lie. Lying for the greater good to spare someone’s feelings, to keep a child’s innocence, or to even save a life are just a few examples when I think lying can be tolerated.…

Telling the truth can bring great benefit while lying brings harm and corruption to human society. Our brains are not designed to lie, so if someone always lies, they might live in anxiety, depression and feel guilty about themselves. Lying destroys trust amongst people and results in lost prestige. When trust is lost, it is difficult to earn it back because we tend to assume that a person who has lied once will lie to us again. We then start to put our defences up against that person in order not to be deceived once again. Not only that, sometimes, we also tend to bear a grudge for long periods of time and it takes a while before the person who lied is forgiven, that is, if we ever choose to forgive and forget. The…
