Should smoking be banned in public places?
As we all know, smoking is a very serious health problem, because it will cause many disease such like cancer and bronchitis. According to Dr. Michael, a health expert graduate form university of California, there are 50 million people smoke in United States now. You may think that it is not a big deal because only these 50 million people may have health problem. However, the biggest issue that caused by smoking is, not only smoker itself, but also others who have breathed smell of the smoke will cause disease. So, that’s what I am going to discuss today, “Should smoking be banned in public areas?” My opinion is, smoking should be banned in public areas and states must come up laws to punish those people who smoke in public places.
I will illustrate my point in three aspects.
My first supporting point is smoke in public areas will cause secondhand smoking problem. People can be exposed to secondhand smoke in public places like restaurant, bars and workplace. Scientists said that, the source of most secondhand smoke is from cigarettes and other tobacco products. Tobacco smoke contains more than 7000 chemical compounds. Among these seven thousands compounds, more than two hundred and fifty chemicals are harmful and 69 of them are known to cause cancer. As you can see, people who breathe secondhand smoke are more harmful than smoker itself. Especially those teenagers and children, although they don’t smoke at all, they will still affect by smoking and even worse than that. If a child started breathes secondhand smoke for a very young age, it will reduce his attention or cause disability. The only way to stop it is to set up laws, we must let more and more people know how serious the problem is.
The second point is cigarette butts litter can cause
