Would you like to always wonder what's under someone's shirt and if the have a gun or not?We should be able to have rifles and shotguns but not handguns. It is very hard to commit suicide with a rifle or shotgun. It is very hard to hide a shotgun or carry it unnoticed unlike a handgun. Handguns start more escalations in a fight. Some citizens are not a fan of handguns let alone being able to carry them in public. 75% of people support law abiding citizens being able to carry a handgun in public (according). Police are too far away sometimes so you might have to take things into your own hands (research). The second amendment says “ People have the right to bear arms” ( entire). Carrying handguns creates a sense of security and safety for people (violent). In 2014 a law was passed for if you wanted a concealed carry permit you must have a clean background (Entire).

Criminals carry a weapon because they are worried that their victim could be armed or they are worried that what if they run into a cop (potential). Criminals say they wouldn't attack anybody that had a gun on them (Wright). Some people that request a permit and don't get one will still carry a gun (using). There would be less rapes, assult, and robberies but the death rate would go up (using). Carrying a handgun could deter some crimes. (using). You have to be old enough to get a permit and you can't have any prior convictions also have no mental issues as it said in 2014 (states). People using guns made states have a law that only qualified people can get permits
