In order to engage Diego during the lesson, I moved quickly from one activity to the next. Diego is very distractible and seeks sensory input so I was able to keep him focused on the activities by always having physical activities for example the cards, the marker and the smart board. I knew that reading and writing the sentences would be a more challenging activity for Diego and when he is challenged he will try to avoid the task. Therefore, I asked him questions to help me choose words that would hold his interest. I asked if he had a cat and since he did not, I did not use the cat word card instead I used ball…
First, one way the teacher can engage strategies is to simply the lesson for the students and give them an opportunity to help find themselves as well as the answer. Second, you can use comics and graphic novels to engage young boys more than girls, into reading. Images are powerful, so young boys are very interested in it. The teachers can develop a complex discussion from a simple idea and help stimulate student’s critical thinking. Finally, teachers must engage students in generating knowledge and testing hypotheses according to the methods of inquiry and standards of evidence used in the discipline.…
As my lessons are mainly practical the learners get plenty of hands on experience with tools and materials this is a simple way of getting them to engage in the lessons. Auditory by explaining in detail to the students the task they are doing and get plenty of Q&A. I get some good…
I believe that a good way to get student engaged in a session with tutors is the interaction between the tutor and the student. When a student is being tutored it is important that the tutor and student builds a trusting relationship with one another, so that the student is able to engage in the session. Another way to engage students in a tutoring session to build the students confidence, this way the student will be more engaged the learning process. A way in knowing that a student is engaged in a tutoring session how they are able to respond to questions that are being asked and the question that they ask. Interaction during the session say's a lot about how the student reacts to the information that they are receiving.…
Students tend to become engaged in their classroom activities if they feel a sense of belonging, and when they feel their teacher cares about their well-being (Skinner & Belmont, 1993). When students form a strong and caring relationship with their teacher, they are full-filling their developmental need for a connection and sense of belonging within their community (Skinner & Belmont, 1993).…
Teacher should create positive strategies which help every child to get involved even when they do not like the classroom activities/strategies. As teachers, we should teach students to work together and form groups to expose them to interact with other people. Teachers should encourage the right behavior in classroom and home. When you point out a good behavior or something good in classroom like participation, important and right opinions it feels good and the child will try to do it more often. This promotes other students good behavior, participation and positive conduct because they would like to be recognized and or praised for their efforts. (Daresh, J. C.…

Starting off the year with 3 different Spanish teachers has been an extreme task for the Freshman as well as the upperclassman this year. Freshman students have struggled with understanding as well as speaking the language because of the adjustment through each teacher. Students in first year Spanish classes excitedly walked into their Spanish classes eager to learn the new language. With only a couple of weeks into school there was already an issue with the first teacher. Freshman were frustrated with their test grades because their hard work did not pay off. Following the first teacher came two more, and students again weren’t able to perform well. The new Spanish teacher Dr. Roldan, has been pushing students to speak the language in class…
If students whizzed through the activity and then looked rather bored then it would be obvious that the task was a bit too easy and not really suitable or beneficial for that group. Therefore you would need to try and make it more engaging and stimulating, perhaps by making it more difficult or time-consuming so the students really have to work to complete it.…
The teaching methods that suit teaching this type of learner are based around a lot of practical ‘hands on’ activities. I use a lot of short exercises and tasks that provide the opportunity for feedback. This works especially well because many of my learners get distracted easily and lack motivation. I find by giving them many short tasks with plenty of feedback keeps them focused and motivated.…
