    1. Col. Robert Shaw: In glory, Col. Robert Shaw can be seen as the abolitionist for several reasons. He fought for fair treatment a pay for the regiment by tearing up his paycheck and demanding shoes and socks. His parents were also well-known abolitionists. Unlike the other black Col. he treated his troops equally an expected them to behave as well as the whit troops. Finally he was Barrie's with the 54th Mass. Regiment much like he would of wanted. The student was quite ill for most of the session and her instructor took the time to read her emails and respond quickly. When the student was in so much pain she was unable to get her individual project in on time the instructor was kind enough not to take any points off of the project. The student assumes this is because she was honest with the instructor and asked for permission to turn in the project late. The student had many issues with the discussion board during this session. She has never had so many problems posting to the discussion board and the instructor was kind enough to let it slide, so to speak. The student went back into the board area for this final individual project and realized that she missed two times that others replied to her discussion board. It has been her experience since she began her work here at Colorado Technical University that she rarely gets feedback in discussion boards even though she works diligently to make sure that she replies to the required amount of peers. She is not sure what the problem might be, she always feels she makes a valid discussion and tries to critique her peers responses as fairly as possible. She does feel sometimes that she might intimidate some of her classmates, therefore, they rarely respond to her posts. She knows, again, through experience, not only in this class but her previous classes…

At Duncanville High School World History class the teacher Julie Phung had been lack in teaching her student all year. But one day student Jeff Bliss got fed up with her teaching strategies and decided to give his opinion about the way she teach and encourage her to teaching a different strategies that she learn them. If you can just get up and teach them instead of handing them a freakin’ packet, yo (Bliss, 2013). There are kids in here who don’t learn like that, they need to teach face-to-face (Bliss, 2013). This was not a set up but the student Jeff Bliss was tired and angry about the way he was learning so he did something about it. The students can benefits from teaching if you have effective strategies and teacher need to improve her way of teaching. Student Jeff Bliss will lose because he will get suspended and teacher will get view by the board. The position I take on this issue that student Jeff Bliss should not confront her in public but wait until after class in a calm voice. I believe she did great by telling him to leave but not saying that any student are waste her time.…

In addition, Reflection is something that we do implicitly as part of being human, underpinning our identities through a process of negotiation between our sense of self and our experiences of others (Demetriou, 2000, p.210). Therefore, I have implemented this quote in my professional and personal goals I wanted and have achieved thought-out the process of the module. On May 17, 9th through 12th grade students in My Mental Health Matters (MMHM), a new club at State High, presented May’s Straight Talk session. MMHM is a student-formed club that aims to erase the stigma attached to issues surround mental health. Under the guidance of high school counselors Patty Devecka and Suzanne Lyke, Jana Marie Foundation’s President Marisa Vicere, and State High alumnus Shawn Bainbridge, members strive to bring awareness to common feelings of doubt or helplessness and most importantly, to let students know that they are never alone in the State High halls. Their Straight Talk presentation covered the importance of mental health awareness from a student perspective. The students responsible for forming MMHM were moved by troubling results from the most recent Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS), which reflected alarmingly high rates of depression and suicidal ideation. They identified that the importance of physical health receives a great deal of attention, but mental health is often neglected. The…

Although I wanted to hear that I had been accepted to the program, I was also prepared to be rejected. However, I had not imagined the possibility of being waitlisted once more. In 2015, I applied to MED while I was still in college hoping to spend a summer learning about the dedication required to succeed in medical school. I was waitlisted and the spot for me was never created. Fast forward two years into the present and I have found myself in the same position. The program is the same, but my experience is utterly different in a variety of ways this year. Over the past two years I have had invaluable experiences that have solidified my resolve to attend medical school.…

Before transferring to Georgian Court University, I had already attended two other colleges. I lived in a dorm my freshmen year at Ramapo and decided that was not for me. After leaving Ramapo, I decided to take a few semesters at Brookdale Community College in order to fulfill some requirements while deciding where exactly was the right place for myself to continue with my education. After searching through many brochures and getting first hand details about schools from people I am acquainted with, I was overcome with joy when I found Georgian Court. Since I am double majoring in both English and Education, it is hard to find schools that offer the two as a pair as well as offer the special endorsement for teaching students with disabilities. Georgian Court is also one of the top teaching schools, with a very high rate of job placement after graduation, which was another thing that captivated me. The economy is very unpredictable at this point in time and it is only plausible to choose the very best school to go to that is well known for the extraordinary practices in the field of study you want to pursue. Here at Georgian Court I have found everything I have been looking for.…

Melenie, you have touched on one of the comments which I found surprising in this weeks reading. A “pastoral counselors should be cautious about immediately assuming that all problems a queer person is experiencing in life are related to being queer.” (Hays, 2015, p.342) Prior to this week’s reading I believed this should be very obvious. I would not want to go to counselor and have them say the problem’s I am experiencing in life are because I am black and being discriminated against. If I heard that I would possibly feel hopeless, because just like the queer person who cannot change their queer, I cannot change my…

During the short history of psychology many influences played a role in the development of Gestalt psychology. “Gestalt psychology is an approach to psychology that focuses on the organization of perception and thinking in a “whole” sense rather than on the individual elements of perception” (Feldman, 2010) This essay will talk about the main influence that played a central element in the evolution of Gestalt psychology and also explain each of the gestalt principles of perceptual organization.…
