Maroubra and Kogarah
Maroubra and Kogarah are two suburbs of Sydney. Maroubra is beach suburb which is 10 kilometers south-east of the Central Business District(CBD). However, Kogarah is a residential suburb which is 14 kilometers south of CBD. This report will compare and contrast the people, housing and services of the two suburbs. The people of the two suburbs are similar. First, the population of these two suburbs is very large. Maroubra’s population is 26,500 and Kogarah’s population is 10,900. Moreover, Maroubra and Kogarah have the same about largest age group(20 years old to 39 years old). In fact, Maroubra has 33% and Kogarah has 31%. Furthermore, the background of people these two suburbs are similar. The percentage of people who was born in Australia in Maroubra is 53% and Kogarah is 47%. The housing of these two suburbs differ sharply in price and type. The median house price in Maroubra is higher than Kogarah. For example, the median house price in Maroubra is $1,050,000 whereas Kougarah is $650,000. However, the median apartment price in Maroubra is $575,000 but Kogarah has just $420.000. In addition, Maroubra has 42% in type of apartment while Kogarah has 46% in type of apartment. Finally, there are differences and similarities in the services of the two suburbs. There have some difference in transports. The main transports of Maroubra are bus and private car. On the other hand, in Kogarah, train and bus are main transport. However, there is a similarity in retails. In Maroubra, the retails are medium-sized shopping center, small shops and cafes shop on major roads. The retails in Kogarah are small shopping center, small shops and cafes near train station.
