Title: Independence – A better and brighter future for Scotland

Specific Purpose: To persuade Scottish University students to vote for the “Yes Scotland” campaign.

Central Idea: An independent Scotland will lead to a better and brighter future for all Scottish citizens.

Introduction

Dear students of ____¬_____ University, I would like you to think about this scenario. “Five to ten years down the road, what will your future be?”

Many of you may envision getting married, starting a family, and having a stable job with good career prospects. All of which would not be possible without the financial and physical security we currently enjoy.

But what if through independence, we could achieve all that by ourselves, and more?

Scotland is a wealthy country. Our Gross Domestic Product or GDP per capita is almost one-fifth bigger than that of the UK as a

I believe we are more than capable to stand on our own and thrive. Independence will not affect the peace, security and relations with other countries.

A. Defence for an independent Scotland

i. Removing nuclear weapons and maintaining defence forces appropriate to our circumstances. ii. 5 defence priorities, mainly a budget of £2.5 billion, safe withdrawal of nuclear weapons, building maritime capabilities and contributing to the security of the North Atlantic, a target 20,000 strong force and reconfiguring defence estates inherited. iii. The Scottish Government will notify NATO of our intention to join the alliance and will negotiate our transition from being a NATO member as part of the UK to becoming an independent member and take our place as one of the many non-nuclear members.

B. International Relations

i. We will continue as being a member of the European Union, but will not seek membership of the Eurozone. ii. Independent Scotland will remain part of the Common Travel Area (CTA) with the rest of the UK, Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel

    Many; colonies remain faithful to Britain but, I am against the Britain. Colonist' are faithful to Britain because they do not have enough weapons and don't have an army to go against Britain.
