Chino Hills High School is a great school with a variety of programs offered on campus. All of which are great and beneficial to the Husky students, community, and staff. One of the great programs offered is the Safe School Ambassadors program. Safe School Ambassadors is “ an ‘“ inside out” ’ approach to improving school climate… (which) relies on social norms change and the power of students to help stop bullying and violence (SSA).” One of the goals of the Husky Safe School Ambassadors is to make the Chino Hills High School campus even safer than it already is for every Husky student. Having Husky students promote and get involved in this program is amazing for CHHS. Every year Chino Hills High has a meeting for returning Husky Safe School…

If I was the principle for a school I would have a safety plan for my school just in case a tornado hit the school my plan would be to have every one move into a classroom with no windows or the room is not on the outs side walls. We would move to this room and tell them to get in a designated corner as soon as a tornado was spotted we would stay there until it is over if. We would have a pre recorded message to call every parent if we had spotted a tornado. We would let all the parents know that there kid will be ok and we would not release them until the tornado is gone.…

Vulnerability has always been a word that caused me to instantly go into a state of pure panic. Being open too other people and to myself has been a constant battle. I have learned the importance of being vulnerable in the year since I started attending college in Boone. To build healthy relationships with others and be authentic I feel like you have to have a certain level of vulnerability with them. In the classroom my first worry is will I fit in and will people take the time to understand me? With that being said I would never know if I did not let them see me be vulnerable and allow them the comfort to do the same. Having a classroom where students can be vulnerable and open to everyone creates an entirely different environment from a…

Can schools really be 100% safe for students? I have heard a lot about violent activities that have been happening in schools not only colleges, but elementary schools as well. People are shooting and killing innocent people. “The National Safety Center believes that schools have the choice to create and maintain safe schools or return to their institutions to safe, secure and effective places of learning”. So, why are we letting this happen? We need to make some changes to make our schools a safer place for students. There is no reason students should be endangered while in school. I honestly believe that you cannot make every school 100% safe for its students because, schools don’t have enough security and precautions, people are not aware,…

The first element of classroom safety is intentional design. Using the positioning of your desks, displays, storage and equipment to create a warm and welcoming room for the students lets the parents as well feel that their child is being left in a safe and caring environment. When the students are comfortable with the surroundings, they feel safe and want to be involved with learning. The expectations for behavior should be made clear at the beginning of the year by reviewing these rules with students. Classroom rules must have concrete consequences. Having a regular daily schedule helps you and your kids prepare for upcoming tasks. The children will adjust to the daily routine and behaviors will be kept at a minimum because they know what is expected of them.…
