Satire About Facebook
Facebook and MySpace are one of the many social networking tools that teens use to communicate. Many spend most of their day browsing other teen’s profiles and updating their own. After all, having a cool profile page and lots of friends is very important in showing off your cyber social status. I don’t like to boast, but Tila Tequila accepted me as her friend on MySpace. I leave her comments fairly often and I’m hoping that one day she will actually reply! Although she has almost 1,000,000 friends, I’m convinced she visits my profile often. We have never had a real conversation but I read her bulletins all the time. I know she is always aware of my updated status and I am positive that’s why she never comments. I myself have about 200 friends. I have only had real conversations with about 50 of them, the rest are people I have spoken to once or twice in my life. Of course I have many other music and movie stars, in addition to Tila Tequila. They are really good at keeping in touch with me thru bulletins. Being constantly made aware of my friends status updates such as, “I am going to an awesome party tonight”, or “Today was such a good day”, puts me ahead of the crowd. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t know what my friends were doing every minute of every day. …show more content…

Not accepting a person is another way of telling them you don’t like them. However, if you accept them you risk having a long and awkward conversation with someone you don’t like. I guess this is just a problem you have to overcome when maintaining your virtual

In the novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, makes use of satire to undermine the morals and beliefs that are upheld in modern people. By underscoring the follies of everyday people, he reveals the real, sycophantic ways of people, where morals and beliefs are only upheld if the majority believes it also. The fear that people have of being ostracized hinders them to change and defy the majority.…

People always talk about the innocent lives of human beings and animals being killed/diseased/injured while everybody seems blinded towards fruits, vegetables, and plants when the same things happen to them! The lives of these harmless organisms are never considered while we chow down on salads and apples! The lives of the innocent must be protected!|The solution is simple, banning the consumption and destruction of all vegetables, fruits, and plants. This means that some forms of medicine will be eliminated due to some of the chemicals being extracted from plants but, rest assured that this sacrifice will not go out in vein due to plant-life being saved! Whenever a human, animal, or insect is caught even plucking an apple off of its own home, they will be punished by death, pesticide, or insecticide respectively. There will be monthly searches in everyone’s house in order to ensure that the plants are getting the necessary water, sunlight, and nutrition that they need. If you fail to keep your plants alive, death will be the ultimate punishment. I know that a lot of needed nutrition comes from these precious life forms so; I have created a monopoly on legal, synthetic fruits, vegetables, and even plants! |1.…

Ambient awareness is a term dubbed by social scientists to describe a new form of peripheral social awareness (Wikipedia, 2015). This awareness comes from constant contact with people via social networking platforms like Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Blogger, etc. We see this term being a big part of Clive Thompsons book Smarter Than You Think and is an essential element to understanding technology today. According to Thompson, ambient awareness is “almost like being in the same room as someone and picking up on his/her mood and thoughts by the stray signals he/she gives off” (Thompson, 2013). He continues to say that ambient awareness is like a type of E.S.P. where “you create a picture of someone else’s internal state gradually, actually unconsciously,…

While I understand the importance of maintaining a good social support network, I think that this is the hardest part for me. Keeping in touch with people when I don't see them at work every day makes it kind of difficult, and when we move from one side of the world to another, it almost becomes impossible! Although it has become easier to simply message old friends on Facebook every now and then, I feel like it's not the same as being able to have them over for dinner one night, or meet them for coffee outside working…

However, friends, particularly in Facebook and friends in real life are truly different. In Facebook, your friends list may contain people whom you are completely oblivious to. These are, in fact, virtual friends. You have no clue about them and neither do they. This is due to a certain community in Facebook today who would simply add friends just to have a large number of acquaintances in his or her friends list. They do this in order to be famous, virtually. Wouldn’t anyone find it a bit awkward if you’re barely into working life but have so-called friends from around the world who are entrepreneurs and as such?…
