Tactical objectives:
Samsung is guided by a singular vision: to lead the digital convergence movement. We believe that through technology innovation today, we will find the solutions we need to address the challenges of tomorrow. From technology comes opportunity—for businesses to grow, for citizens in emerging markets to prosper by tapping into the digital economy, and for people to invent new possibilities. It’s our aim to develop innovative technologies and efficient processes that create new markets, enrich people’s lives and continue to make Samsung a trusted market leader.

Strategic objectives:

Everything we do at Samsung is guided by our mission: to be the best “digital- εCompany”.

Samsung grew into a global corporation by facing challenges directly. In the years ahead, our dedicated people will continue to embrace many challenges and come up with creative ideas to develop products and services that lead in their markets. Their ingenuity will continue to chart Samsung’s course as a profitable, responsible global corporation.

Samsung Hope for Children Program
Samsung launched Hope for Children globally to bring attention to the worldwide need for childhood education and healthcare. The program advocates on the behalf of children by providing our products, knowledge and employee volunteer service—and our success will be measured by the number of lives we touch.

Focus on Children's Education and Health
Samsung Hope for Children focuses on the most disadvantaged and vulnerable children in our com munities. A widening educational gap and health issues put these children at a disadvantage compared to their peers. Our expertise, technology and resources can help ensure that these children—and children everywhere— have access to educational opportunities and receive necessary healthcare. Integrating Our Products and Technology

Samsung Hope for Children is unique among social contribution programs in how it leverages our leader-ship in technology and innovation. The program gives children and other beneficiaries—such as teachers, doctors and hospital staff—the chance to learn, use or receive treatment with at least one Samsung product. Expanding to 55 Countries by 2013

Samsung Electronics will expand Samsung Hope for Children to 55 countries by 2013, including India, Kenya, Iran, Germany and Russia. Each program will uniquely address the needs of individual communities while emphasizing science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education and IT technical training.

Social Welfare
Samsung lends support to people and their communities in many different ways. Our current area of focus is on investing in teenagers’ futures, through support of science education and creative thinking that encourages leadership; assisting children in low-income families by supporting educational infrastructure, and discovering and supporting outstanding students; and supporting programmes that encourage family well-being. We also carry out programmes in these areas at each of our eight volunteer centres.

Culture and Arts
Samsung provides support for diverse artistic and cultural activities around the world. Over the years, Samsung has contributed extensively to numerous museums, galleries and exhibits in Korea and in many countries, including the United States and France. The Samsung Museum of Modern Art collects preserves and exhibits modern and contemporary art from Korea and abroad, while the Samsung Children's Museum, the first of its kind in Korea, invites children have fun exploring the world they live in. Samsung also hosts and supports various cultural events for children and programmes that encourage their early artistic development.

Volunteer Services
In 1995, Samsung launched the Social Contribution Corps to encourage employees to get involved in community service. The initiative has since expanded to eight volunteer centres across Korea, manned by social welfare experts who support the...
