Although I only officially became President of Van Horn’s National Honor Society in May; I’ve already learned more about being a leader within the community. Community, service, leadership and scholarship have become permanent fixtures in my life. As President I have also become closer to my community and my fellow classmates.…
All I could think about was, “What if I mess up” as I prepared for my first meeting, I’ll be leading as Key Club president. However, all I needed to do was relax, think about my first meeting as a newly integrated sophomore, review my presentation notes, and confirm the information with the Key Club advisor. As I thought of my first few years of Key Club I remembered what it meant to be the president and a leader. Being president meant being a motivator, organizer, and a problem solver so that everyone can accomplish their individual goals. With those thoughts in mind, I began my presentation.…
As a current class officer, I feel that there is untapped potential for what the class council can do. I believe the next class council needs organization, communication, and a well defined mission with set goals. I am ready to bring my leadership skills and experience to the table to implement these three values.…
As the leaders, our main job is to promote school spirit. We are in charge of notifying the student body about upcoming events from sports to band to academic quiz team. This is usually done through Twitter. Mrs. Davis trusts us to not post anything negative or inappropriate. We follow up the notification by having one or more of the leaders attending our events where we lead the Hawks’ Nest. But most importantly, we must make…
All four years at AHS, I have participated in three Varsity sports (Volleyball, Basketball and Track). This past year, I served as the team Captain for my volleyball and basketball team. Outside of high school athletics, I participate in club volleyball every year through various local volleyball organizations. I have been a member of the Broadcast club for three years and currently serve as the secretary. I joined Link crew, a club that helps incoming freshmen become acquainted with the high school, my Junior year. This year I have served as the Link Crew President. I have a passion for student government and enjoy participating in it at AHS. I fill the role as Senior Class President and the year before, I was the Junior Class President. I…
Since the beginning of this school year, I have been visiting La Cumbre twice a month to help coordinate school events and elections and advise students about leadership. This experience has allowed me to make a difference in my community by helping students grow, while growing more myself. My hope is that, in the future, leadership programs involve all students. I believe that school leadership needs to be representative of all the demographic groups, not just the…

When in the course of class history, it becomes necessary for the students to cut off ties with the school. We hold the truth to be self-evident that all students are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator by unalienable rights, that among them are the pursuit of good grades, fairness, and happiness. Students allow themselves to be ruled by the teachers in order to protect their rights. The office is created to protect these rights instead of taking them away from the students. When the rights are being taken away from the students, we have the right to break away and form a new government. The tyrant of Room 25 have broken the social contract by making unfair rules, stopping us from learning, and rushing the due date for homework. The tyrant of Room 25 is corrupt and too strict. His rules are evil and his actions cause many if not all to suffer. He is horrible at grading and is and bad at teaching. His ways of teaching are making us dumb and stupid instead of gaining knowledge. We, the…
Chartering and being in charge of a club can be very rewarding, but there can also be a plethora of obstacles that have to be overcome. I am the president of the Best Buddies program – a program that seeks to increase interactions between people with and without special needs – at my high school, and I was the first person in my county to charter this program which was back when I was in the eighth grade. Being the President of this specific club is very challenging and unique: it requires you to work with a wide variety of students – in the mainstream setting and those with special needs – and those students’ parents. From these challenges, I learned the value of persistence and the importance of keeping to your word no matter what life…
In the 2012 “3rd presidential debate on foreign policy” Mitt Romney asserts his statements about what he feels the United States needs to establish in order to correct the nation. Romney supports his assertions by using logos to express his knowledge of statistical data, using ethos to establish himself as a trustworthy contestant, and uses pathos to pull at the voter emotions. His purpose is the give people the impression that he is a trustworthy candidate and that if given the chance in office he will fix all governmental mistakes. Romney establishes an approachable relationship not only with his audience of voters but with future politicians.…
During my time as the head of committees on the student council and National Honor Society, I’ve planned school dances, intramural activities, clothing and food drives, fundraising parties, and many other events. Utilizing my leadership skills and service experience, I would add to the social environment at Columbia by encouraging students to become more involved in the community and to participate in service that truly helps those in need. I’m an agent for positive change in whatever community I’m in and I anticipate being an active advocate for change in the Columbia community.…
I had discovered who I was, and it was exactly who I aspired to be: a girl with authority and the title to prove it. I was one of three freshman representatives of the Student Board, the prestigious and sought-after body of student government. The entire year I held onto that identity and knew it was only a matter of time before my incumbency kicked in and I would begin anew with my sophomore term.…
Together with the other officers, we will work as an unstoppable team with our objective being to best serve you. I really do think we can make next year a great one. If you elect me, I will make sure we use every penny wisely and that you can count on my records. I'll give everything I have to our class’s benefit. I want to be involved in leading our class. I know the importance of it and how it could improve me, personally and professionally. I am asking you for your…
I feel that sometimes I am trying much too hard, or not hard enough to be responsible. It’s rough when you can’t find the balance point, but I am 100 percent willing to give the role of class president my all. I would love to represent our class as president. I really love our class, and I love Edison. I’ve been with most of our class for a…
