She says that the student government can be very productive when conducting business without deadline worries. In her opinion, being class president is most enjoyable when she knows that her work is helping to improve the class and giving a voice to the students of the Sophomore Class. All I could think about was, “What if I mess up” as I prepared for my first meeting, I’ll be leading as Key Club president. However, all I needed to do was relax, think about my first meeting as a newly integrated sophomore, review my presentation notes, and confirm the information with the Key Club advisor. As I thought of my first few years of Key Club I remembered what it meant to be the president and a leader. Being president meant being a motivator, organizer, and a problem solver so that everyone can accomplish their individual goals. With those thoughts in mind, I began my presentation.…

As the leaders, our main job is to promote school spirit. We are in charge of notifying the student body about upcoming events from sports to band to academic quiz team. This is usually done through Twitter. Mrs. Davis trusts us to not post anything negative or inappropriate. We follow up the notification by having one or more of the leaders attending our events where we lead the Hawks’ Nest. But most importantly, we must make…

When in the course of class history, it becomes necessary for the students to cut off ties with the school. We hold the truth to be self-evident that all students are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator by unalienable rights, that among them are the pursuit of good grades, fairness, and happiness. Students allow themselves to be ruled by the teachers in order to protect their rights. The office is created to protect these rights instead of taking them away from the students. When the rights are being taken away from the students, we have the right to break away and form a new government. The tyrant of Room 25 have broken the social contract by making unfair rules, stopping us from learning, and rushing the due date for homework. The tyrant of Room 25 is corrupt and too strict. His rules are evil and his actions cause many if not all to suffer. He is horrible at grading and is and bad at teaching. His ways of teaching are making us dumb and stupid instead of gaining knowledge. We, the…

Chartering and being in charge of a club can be very rewarding, but there can also be a plethora of obstacles that have to be overcome. I am the president of the Best Buddies program – a program that seeks to increase interactions between people with and without special needs – at my high school, and I was the first person in my county to charter this program which was back when I was in the eighth grade. Being the President of this specific club is very challenging and unique: it requires you to work with a wide variety of students – in the mainstream setting and those with special needs – and those students’ parents. From these challenges, I learned the value of persistence and the importance of keeping to your word no matter what life…

In the 2012 “3rd presidential debate on foreign policy” Mitt Romney asserts his statements about what he feels the United States needs to establish in order to correct the nation. Romney supports his assertions by using logos to express his knowledge of statistical data, using ethos to establish himself as a trustworthy contestant, and uses pathos to pull at the voter emotions. His purpose is the give people the impression that he is a trustworthy candidate and that if given the chance in office he will fix all governmental mistakes. Romney establishes an approachable relationship not only with his audience of voters but with future politicians.…

I’m an agent for positive change in whatever community I’m in and I anticipate being an active advocate for change in the Columbia community.…
