Essay On Columbia Community

What aspect of the Columbia community, outside of the classroom, would you most want to impact and why? (150 words or less) Helping people has always been an important aspect of my life. Whether I’m directly meeting a need or simply providing entertainment, I enjoy being of service to others. I have the aptitude to be a leader in any situation, and I’m constantly utilizing my leadership skills to make a change for the better. During my time as the head of committees on the student council and National Honor Society, I’ve planned school dances, intramural activities, clothing and food drives, fundraising parties, and many other events. Utilizing my leadership skills and service experience, I would add to the social environment at Columbia by encouraging students to become more involved in the community and to participate in service that truly helps those in need. I’m an agent for positive change in whatever community I’m in and I anticipate being an active advocate for change in the Columbia community.

The lives of most people have been impacted by cancer in some way, including my own. While my mother is a breast cancer survivor, cancer has taken the life of my paternal grandfather and the parents of multiple friends.
