Safe Haven By Nicholas Sparks
The book that I read was called Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks. I think Nicholas Sparks wrote this book because he wanted to create another love story for his readers to read and to give his readers a book that was somewhat different from his last books. From reading Nicholas Sparks’ books in the past, you know the books are fiction but some part of you will think that the story is real and can happen in real life because he is so detailed about what he writes. The author’s purpose of this book is to entertain the reader of another love story but with a twist. Safe Haven takes place in Southport, North Carolina, which is a real place but Nicholas Sparks makes up things about the town as he goes.

My overall impression of the book was that I fell in love with it. Something about the book made me fall in

It describes things very detailed and in a sequence of events that are very detailed. I remember many things of what happened to Katie that are described throughout the book. Nicholas Sparks described her past very well and in a lot of details. He also described a lot of things about Alex too and his young 2 children. I think the author was effective of conveying the author’s purpose because he created a love story with a twist that people love. I felt many emotions as the author got deeper into explaining the characters. I got very attached to both of the characters and felt sadness when something bad happened to them.

I think the targeted audience for this book would be young adults, and adults. I think they would like this book book because it is similar to other Nicholas Sparks books and it does have a very good story that is happening throughout the book. The author did a very good job of explaining what was happening in the book which is a very good thing in my opinion. I would recommend this book 100% because it is such a good book.

I have read this entire book, and this paper is entirely my own

In 2010, Laura Hillenbrand released a brilliant tribute to a resilient national hero, Louis “Louie” Zamperini, whose story was not widely known at the time. Fast forward four years and this tribute, Unbroken, has been made into a major motion picture and the remarkable story of the Olympian-turned-soldier has reached the masses. In the book Unbroken, which I read shortly after it was released, Hillenbrand chronicles Zamperini’s epic and, at times, terrifying odyssey. Raised in California, he was the son of Italian immigrants.…

I liked this book mainly because of how different it was compared to my lifestyle and how entertaining it was. Nikki turner didn’t really sugar coat much so I felt I was watching a movie and saw it for what it truly was. Like anyone’s guilty pleasure we all like reality television and it kind of reminded me of just that with fights and drama. The books good points that were how certain events that happen in one’s life good or bad really do shape a person into who they become. Teaching me to not be ashamed of what happens and to only use that circumstance as a motivation of some kind. For anyone that is interested in a gritty, suspenseful, and eye bulging book that keeps you wondering what’s next I would definably recommend this book to that someone willing to take a…

It has very tough issues and a lot of language. This would be a book for upper middle school to high school. This is a book you would have to be very careful with, you would need a lot of parent permission and a class/student that you could have great discussion with. However, that is not to say that it is not worth reading. I think that a lot of students today have a hard time backing down from an issue, even if it is meaningless, so this could really be relatable. Some strategies that could be used with this book include predicting, inferring, and making connections. I think that inferring could be a great strategy for this book because you can use the pictures and the text to find out what the author is really…

It had humor, real life events, sadness, and suspense. I would most definitely recommend this novel to someone because although it’s very long, you won’t want to stop reading it. This book will make you wonder, cry, even laugh. It’s a book that I think had great meaning and was put together very well. In my opinion, there is no flaws about this book except how long it is.…

The movie Unbroken, by Laura Hillenbrand depicts a clear description of the experiences and struggles that those who fought in it had to endured. Timely, it also shows the effect of WWII on the relationships between different ethnicities and races as people found something in common with those they once considered as outcast of their social network. However it also created the opposite effect in which it divided people and placed them to fight against each other for a cause they themselves did not hold; it teared down relationships and friendships . Unbroken shows the changes of WII on the attitudes we had towards those who surround us, whether it was to our countrymen, immigrants or international individuals. From the start of the movie, Louie…

I like how its really intense and calming and also some parts funny. I like how it talks about teen pregnancy because some young teens will want to get pregnant at such a young age and if they read this book it may help them change their mind and wait till they get older, thats very important to me. I really like the chapter where Bobby was talking about the wall when he was trying to get everything back in place and try to see who he really was, i thought that part was really good. I like how it goes back and fourth for the chapters like then and now, it makes you want to read more because in one chapter it tells you really good information and you just want to read even more till the…

I liked how vivid the author was about the things he encountered. His inner thoughts is what also made this novel an interesting read for me because it showed readers what he was really feeling. When I read Dave’s thought and feelings about being locked in a bathroom with ammonia, it brought tears to my eyes. At first, the brutal details in this book made it hard for me to believe that any child endured such pain for so long. I couldn’t believe how long Dave was abused. I just couldn’t understand what human being does this to a child—what mother does this to a…

There are many reasons why the book is suitable for young adults. In my opinion, the book addresses the immediate issues facing the people. The books address the issues of domestic violence, drug abuse, racism, poverty, sexuality, and murder (Alexie, page 7). I tend to agree with the manner the book present the issue, such that some of the readers confesses that the YA book is the only novel they have ever read in its entirety. Alexie writes…

The short story, “The Nest” by Robert Zacks, is about how a boy wanted to go on a hike with his friend, Paul. Jimmy, the one that wanted to meet his friend, decided to ask his Mom before going. However, Ms. Swanson also known as Jimmy’s mom, didn’t want Jimmy to go on a hike with Paul. This is because Ms. Swanson knew he was in a gang and was a bad influence. Seconds later, Jimmy was grieved with his mother and decided to tell Paul he wasn’t going. As Jimmy approached Paul, he noticed that he was upset about how no one was allowed to go on the hike. Jimmy felt terrible and decided that he would go on the hike with Paul and invite him over for supper. Jimmy pulled out his telephone to tell her that Paul was coming for supper and he’d go on a…

In my opinion the book was likable because of the realistic characters and the exciting events throughout the story line. It also caught my eye because of the differential characters in the book; there was an old and wise character otherwise known as Sol and a young and naïve character known as Alex. The sequences of events were very entertaining, and in the end both of the main characters learned something from each other. This was made clear when Alex learned that parents always love their children no matter what and to take responsibility for his actions. There was always something going on, and it was never boring. One dislike of mine of the book was that it didn’t include enough descriptive details. I would like to see more details when Alex is illegally drunk driving his mom’s car. On the other hand, it did have plenty of exciting events throughout the story like the conflicts between Alex and Sol in the beginning of the book and the plot of the relationship budding between Alex and Laurie. The writing style was quite interesting and it engaged me some as a reader. The plot moved along fairly quickly and didn’t drag too much. It had many exciting events scattered throughout the story and you never were bored. The desire or need of wanting to know what happens next in the story kept me reading it. The characters were easy for me to identify with, and I felt like I actually knew them. I believe that they could be actual people. I think that the type of reader that would enjoy this book would be able to identify with the characters and believe that all people make mistakes. This book would be intended for students grade eight and up, or anyone who enjoys a quick, entertaining, and enjoyable…

I was in fact very confused by the way Atwood describes the condition of the earth to the outsider (or alien). Because when you start to explain something to someone, you assume that both of you must first know and agree with something together. This feeling started from Atwoods description of a funeral: When a person has achieved death a kind of PICNIC is held, I thought the word PICNIC quite hilarious, as if an alien would know what a picnic is in the first place. And then I recall having seen a movie about a girl making a documentary. A character referred to documentary as a kind of movie, just boring. Its like when we are talking to children. When children ask us about something complicated, we would explain it in simple words which they already know. Following this logic, Atwood must have made quite some assumptions of the aliens: They know what countries, arms, legs, seaweeds, furs, lizards, muscle tissues, communities, mirrors are. In fact, they dont even refer to the Earth as a planet. Instead, Atwood explains it as a country (not even an area). So Atwood might have expected the alien to think of all these words as the same thing we know.…
