Rizal: Polymath- Man of Excellence
Rizal? People know him as “national hero of the Philippines” but knowing this person, and studying about his life, you will then discern the crack-of-the-best underneath his common stories.
From a wealthy family, everything seems to be possible. But for this young man Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado, he took advantage of their wealth for him to study and learn.
His potentials were distinctive upon learning things at very young age. This person is never an ordinary man. He was destined to live the way he lived. To have all the knowledge he used to know during his existence. He never settled for a single achievement, but instead he hungered for more. He made ways in order for him to attain his goals and even took risks from it. He was indeed a genius! He knew his capabilities and limitations, however never considered these as hindrance to procure what he really wanted. He pursued his passions and became his professions and was even recognized for all of these. Rizal could have been an ideal renaissance man, who excelled at anything he put his considerable mind and talents to. The study of land assessment, medicine and literature are just few of his known accomplishments but he was also excellent in arts, architecture, and physical activities were also where he demonstrated his prowess. He was a bilingual- he spoke over 10 different languages.
Even as a youth, he was exposed to the difficulties of being under the Spanish colonial government, which had instilled in him the need for change in the system of how the country was being run.
He was indeed a person who had a genuine love for his country and his people. Someone gallantly faced the consequences only because of being a good citizen and a patriot to his own country. His death was really unjust ..
His life was definitely a life to remember- a story to be shared even to the next generations. For he was once a man who didn’t just exists, but he was someone who’s life...
